[edit] Proposed deletion: The Blatric

Sirs, I need help to stop an article being deleated! The Blatric is a new dance craze that is hitting the Edinburgh, UK dance scene. We need help in keeping this article. Please can anyone help by adding to the discussion on that page. This is has several hundreds of followers in edinburgh, we need help! Even though this dance is still fairly new it could be the next form of Krumping for all you know!

Thanks. Theblatric (talk) 17:15, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

I vote to keep - it's an interesting field, and should expand rapidly. Not sure if it is an art in itself, or science applied to art behind-the-scenes ?--195.137.93.171 (talk) 10:46, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notice of List articles

Page(s) related to this project have been created and/or added to one of the Wikipedia:Contents subpages (not by me).

This note is to let you know, so that experts in the field can expand them and check them for accuracy, and so that they can be added to any watchlists/tasklists, and have any appropriate project banners added, etc. Thanks. --Quiddity 18:59, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] infobox dancer

I started an infobox: template:infobox dancer, which is just an adaptation from template:football player infobox. I ran into a few problems though.

  1. I know almost nothing of templates and infoboxes.
  2. I know almost nothing of dance.

If anyone can help me with the infobox giving suggestions of what should be in there, or how to make it, I'd appreciate it. I gave it a testrun on Sarah Van Patten. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 15:33, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Forlane and Furlana

I think these may be the same thing, but the descriptions are somewhat unclear (they are both very short). I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone is familiar with 17th century dances and can advise on if they should be merged, or if not, how they can be better distinguished. Rigadoun (talk) 20:11, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

They are the same if one is to believe Yale University's libarians: Forlane; TYPE (English, French); Italian folkdance; use for forlana, furlana. Robert Greer (talk) 21:12, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ABT, NYCB, Ballets Russes and Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo

There is discussion on Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2008 January 11 of the categories for ABT and NYCB dancers and Ballets Russes (and Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo) choreographers. It is proposed that these categories be deleted! One may post a comment there. Robert Greer (talk) 11:30, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Categories:Dance styles (or genres)

Looking at the Category:Dances it appears that a category such as Category:Dance styles in Category:Dance similar to Category:Music genres would be useful. I did wonder about genres but the usage did not seem quite right. The category would include styles like ballet and allow particular dance and dance repertoire items to be separated. [edit] WikiProject Dance: Articles of unclear notability

Hello,

there are currently 10 articles in the scope of this project which are tagged with notability concerns. I have listed them here. (Note: this listing is based on a database snapshot of 12 March 2008 and may be slightly outdated.)

I would encourage members of this project to have a look at these articles, and see whether independent sources can be added, whether the articles can be merged into an article of larger scope, or possibly be deleted. Any help in cleaning up this backlog is appreciated. For further information, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Notability.

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the Notability project page or on my personal talk page. (I'm not watching this page however.) Thanks! --B. Wolterding (talk) 16:52, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Master Juba at peer review

Hello! I've just put Master Juba up at peer review. Master Juba was a black American dancer who lived in the 19th century. He is, according to many authorities, the father of tap dancing and made a profound impact on American dance styles. He was also significant as the first black man to get top billing over white performers. At any rate, I thought there might be some knowledgeable (or just curious) folks following this page who might be interested in giving some feedback. The review page can be found here. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! — Dulcem (talk) 06:10, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Slow dance

Hello. Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles needs your help. Slow dance has been without any references since June, 2006. Could you please take a minute out of your busy day to help add sources? Thanks for your time. Viriditas (talk) 13:57, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Current Category:Dance by ethnicity or region --> proposed Category:Dances by ethnicity or region + Category:Dance by country

[edit] AfD List of some notable dancers

[edit] Infobox Dancer

Template:Infobox Dancer still needs some work, but I've now sorted out some documentation so it's a bit more user-friendly. It still shows signs of its previous existence as a football template, but perhaps some dance fans might want to think about what information it would be useful to include in the infobox. If you don't fancy editing it yourself, the template builders would be delighted to help you. Anyway, now there's no excuse for not sprinkling the infobox over any people articles within this Project.FlagSteward (talk) 14:42, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
