[edit] Natural Wonders of Chad

This is a talk page? It says "Wikipedia talk:" but it sure doesn't look like a talk page... Anyway, I'm checking Wikipedia's coverage of Natural Wonders of the World and Chad is missing five articles:

Keep in mind that they may already exist under different names. If not, put them on your "to do" list. Happy editing! —Keenan Pepper 21:37, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Maps

I just started a stub for Ade, Chad, a city which is frequently in the news about the Sudan conflict. It is a short stub and could use some expert expansion - population, a map showing where it is (I can help make the map if someone can show me where this town is). Rmhermen 19:09, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

I found what I needed on the Falling Rain Global Gazetteer and also created a locator template that can be used to make maps for other cities if they need them. Rmhermen 20:38, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Aozou, Chad

Is this a city? It is on the CIA Factbook-derived map (Image:Cd-map small.png) and at Falling Rain Gazetteer (but with a strange entry for population) but is not on the List of cities in Chad. Rmhermen 16:04, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Absolutely yes. The city is small, but has played an enormous importance in modern Chadian history, as a war has been fought for its control and three bloody battles have been fought there. At the moment Aozou is only a redirect to Aozou strip, but the town exists and is capital of the subprefecture of Aozou, in the Tibesti Department.--Aldux 17:24, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Project directory

Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 14:59, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Project banner

I changed the phrasing of the project banner, and added the flag to it, hoping to make it a bit more eye-catching. I hope no one minds. If they do, please feel free to change it back. Badbilltucker 16:27, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 19:59, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proposal for WikiProject Middle Africa

Badbilltucker has proposed a new WikiProject at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Middle Africa. Members of this WikiProject may wish to add their views. Kahuzi 09:43, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Volcanoes

Just informing you I created articles about Tarso Toh and Tarso Voon volcanoes and also List of volcanoes in Chad, which is de facto a split from larger list containg all volcanoes around the world. - Darwinek 22:06, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the note, I still hadn't noted the articles.--Aldux 20:55, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Name consistency and organization on Chad articles

There are a lot of articles still talking about the Chad-Sudanese war. These are e.g.:

Furtheron, there's an article about Second Chadian Civil War, but noone on First Chadian Civil War. Maybe restructure the article Chadian Civil War to also include the Second Chadian Civil War article, since I haven't heard about any scholars talking about the First and the Second ditto.

The History of Chad template need also be updated, for instance with this aforementioned Chadian Civil War article.

Mårten Berglund 17:36, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi Marten. Regarding the First Chadian Civil War, I'm taking some time to tackle it, for the complexity and importance of the topic; also, I won't start till Decalo's Historical Dictionary of Chad, that I've ordered a week ago from the United States. Then, when I find some time from my work, I'll start with it.--Aldux 12:42, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bilateral relations discussion

I would like to invite you all to participate in a discussion at this thread regarding bilateral relations between two countries. All articles related to foreign relations between countries are now under the scope of WikiProject Foreign relations, a newly created project. We hope that the discussion will result in a more clean and organized way of explaining such relationships. Thank you. Ed ¿Cómo estás? 18:01, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template needs to be changed

I feel that the {{WikiProject Chad}} template needs to be changed to follow the {{Football}} template as well as the {{AfricaProject}} template. This is to achieve consistency between the various templates. Any comments about this would be greatly appreciated. --Siva1979Talk to me 06:33, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

I have just changed the {{WikiProject Chad}} template to be consistent with the above mentioned templates. Any comments about this is welcomed. --Siva1979Talk to me 06:50, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Absolutely agree, consistency is a good thing and this is the right way to go. Good job. - Darwinek 07:20, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Can't say it's a bad idea: the problem is that I'm probably not the most indicated guy for doing this, as I've been too heavily implicated in writing too many articles on the topic, and I doubt there would be many other people interested.--Aldux 10:59, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Since Siva1979 had made the same proposal to multiple Wikiproject banners, I have started a centralized discussion at the Village Pump to obtain wider input. --Farix (Talk) 13:14, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Proposal to consolidate African country WikiProject banners

Template:AfricaProject was recently modified, and now contains individual parameters for all countries in Africa (see usage notes). Since project-specific assessment for all African countries can now be accomplished through the template, a proposal has been made at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Africa to consolidate all individual African country WikiProject banners.

Comments or suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you, Black Falcon (Talk) 23:26, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
