[edit] SimonP

SimonP Aka Simon Pulsifer, was born on September 11, 1981, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and has been referred to as the 'King of Wikipedia' in the Canadian media. He is a prolific editor of the English-language Wikipedia.

Pulsifer grew up in Ottawa, Canada. He attended Rockcliffe Park Public School, graduated from Ottawa's Lisgar Collegiate, and went on to study history at the University of Toronto. According to a 2006 Globe and Mail article[1] he lives in Ottawa and manages the computer systems for Ottawa mayoral candidate Alex Munter.

Pulsifer became an active editor of Wikipedia in 2002 under the username SimonP. Since that time he was regularly listed as a leading editor in Wikipedia edit count lists. While studying for his bachelor's degree he said he spent over six hours a day editing and creating articles for Wikipedia. Throughout 2006 Pulsifer was featured in a number of news stories in the Canadian and United States press. The Globe and Mail newspaper called him the "King of Wikipedia.",[1] noting at the time he had edited more than 78,000 articles and created more than 2,000. His prolific edit count and Canadian citizenship made him a natural subject for human interest stories in the Canadian media during a period of tremendous public and press interest in Wikipedia.

Pulsifer explained his devotion to Wikipedia as follows: "It's important that people around the world have access to free, accurate and unbiased information. Wikipedia tries to do that, and it's a very honourable and admirable goal." [1]
