Welcome to the assessment department of WikiProject Zimbabwe! This department focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's articles related to Zimbabwe. The article ratings are used within the project itself to aid in recognising excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work.
The ratings are done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WPZW}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:Zimbabwe articles by quality and Category:Zimbabwe articles by importance.
[edit] Frequently asked questions
- How can I get my article rated?
- Please list it in the section for assessment requests below.
- Why didn't the reviewer leave any comments?
- Unfortunately, due to the volume of articles that need to be assessed, we are unable to leave detailed comments in most cases. If you have particular questions, you might ask the person who assessed the article; they will usually be happy to provide you with their reasoning.
- What if I don't agree with a rating?
- You can list it in the section for assessment requests below, and someone will take a look at it. Alternately, you can ask any member of the project to rate the article again.
- Who can assess articles?
- Any member of the Zimbabwe WikiProject is free to add or change the rating of an article.
- Where can I find articles to assess?
- Many articles in Category:Zimbabwe still need to be assessed and any articles in Category:Unassessed Zimbabwe articles and Category:Unknown-importance Zimbabwe articles.
If you have any other questions that aren't listed here, feel free to ask them at the talk page.
[edit] How to assess articles
You can assess articles by placing the {{WPZW}} banner on its talk page (not the article page!) and using the two parameters, class (to assess the quality) and importance (to assess the priority).
[edit] Quality assessments
An article's quality assessment is generated from the class parameter in the {{WikiProject Zimbabwe}} project banner on its talk page:
This template is the project banner for WikiProject Zimbabwe, and is added to the talk pages of articles within the Project's scope.

[edit] Simple version
General parameters:
|
{{WPZW |class = |importance = }}
[edit] Detailed version
{{WPZW |small = |class = |importance = |portal = |attention = |needs-infobox = |needs-photo = |needs-map = |merge = |zwc-candidate = |zwc-current = |zwc-past = |peer-review = |old-peer-review = |orphan = |auto = |Rhodesia = }}
[edit] Usage
[edit] Small size option
Setting the parameter |small=yes creates a more compact, right-aligned version. See Talk:Popora people for an example.
[edit] Quality scale
The first table below gives a brief, one-sentence description of possible quality scale values. Before assigning any article to a class, please take a few moments and read the full description of the Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team's assessment system.
(Also see the Other Template Parameters, in the second table below.)
Each article may also be assigned to a particular class, intended as a point-in-time assessment of its overall "quality" - relative to the criteria given in the quality scale which is detailed below. Articles for which a valid class has not yet been provided are listed by default in Category:Unassessed Zimbabwe articles.
The following values may be used for the class parameter (they should be entered exactly as given):
Value | Meaning | Category |
---|---|---|
FA | Articles which are currently Featured status articles. | FA-Class Zimbabwe articles |
A | A-class articles. | A-Class Zimbabwe articles |
GA | Articles with a current Good article status. | GA-Class Zimbabwe articles |
B | B-class articles. | B-Class Zimbabwe articles |
Start | Start-class articles. | Start-Class Zimbabwe articles |
Stub | Stub-class articles. | Stub-Class Zimbabwe articles |
NA | This is used for miscellaneous pages such as disambiguation pages, which do not require an assessment (it is recommended that you use additional class values below, though). | Non-article Zimbabwe pages |
Value | Meaning | Category |
---|---|---|
List | For lists. | List-Class Zimbabwe articles |
Template | For templates. | Template-Class Zimbabwe articles |
Category | For categories. | Category-Class Zimbabwe articles |
Disambig | For disambiguation pages. | Disambig-Class Zimbabwe articles |
Image | For images located on Wikipedia (NOT the ones on Commons). | Image-Class Zimbabwe articles |
Portal | For portal pages. | Portal-Class Zimbabwe articles |
[edit] Importance scale
Each article may also be assigned a particular importance; for Zimbabwe related articles, we make a ver simple use of this. Articles for which a valid importance has not yet been provided are listed by default in Category:Unknown-importance Zimbabwe articles.
The following values may be used for the importance parameter (they should be entered exactly as given):
Value | Meaning | Category |
---|---|---|
Top | Major, broad articles like cities, mayor topics, or important people. | Top-importance Zimbabwe articles |
High | All actual articles on the history of any Zimbabwe-related topic. Also articles about ethnic groups in Zimbabwe. | High-importance Zimbabwe articles |
Mid | Other articles that are likely to be of general interest (for example, an article about the theatrical traditions of Zimbabwe). | Mid-importance Zimbabwe articles |
Low | Articles that are not about Zimbabwe and are not likely to be of general interest (for example, a building that houses an organization); also disambiguation pages, which do not require an assessment. | Low-importance Zimbabwe articles |
Anyway, exceptions can be considered if necessary.

Requested assessments
Frederick Russell Burnham - This article on a Rhodesian pioneer has not been categorized or reviewed by WikiProject Zimbabwe, except to add it within the category, but it has just recently been nominated as a Good Article candidate in WP. Additionally, it is considered Top Importance within the Scouting WikiProject and Military People WikiProject categories , and it was selected by the Scouting WikiProjectas the biography of the month for September 2007. The scouting and military folks have made a number of revisions lately to bring it to this point. Thanks for taking a look and for adding your revisions, comments, and assessments.Currently under WP GA assessment.Done, passed GA.
British South Africa Company Medal - new articleDone.
David Coltart - I've been pretty much the only one largely working on this except for the brief arrival of the mysterious Coltart. Btw, did anyone find out what his/her deal was? Was it Coltart himself? Doubt it though. If Gibson Sibanda can earn a B rating I see no reason why David Coltart should not.
- There is no way Gibson Sibanda is B class. I have altered the rating. However, David Coltart is still a little way off a B class rating. Well done on all the work achieved so far.Mangwanani 16:02, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Kadoma - The origin of the name and the brief mention of the history of mining in the area need correction and amplification. Could somebody check. I've left a note on the discussion page.Klipdok 15:23, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
