To-do list for Wikipedia:WikiProject Writing systems/Transliteration Task Force:

Here are some tasks you can do:

    [edit] Mission Statement

To to audit and, where necessary, to improve transliterations into English from languages which use non-Roman writing systems, and to provide the text in the original writing system where absent.

This project is issue of the realization that, in many places on English Wikipedia, there are Romanized transliterations of, for example, Arabic text for which only the Romanized version appears. Including the original non-Romanized text (as well as universal IPA coverage, dealt with by another task force) does nothing but benefit and enrich the article. For languages which have various accepted methods for transliteration, they should all, within reason, be mentioned (such as the alternative use of 7 and H to represent the Arabic letter 'haa), even if in a footnote.

    [edit] Example

I will replace this text with an example later tonight. --Msanford (talk) 21:27, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
