A few Wikipedians have gotten together to make some suggestions about how we might organize data in articles about Vietnam. These are only suggestions, things to give you focus and to get you going, and you shouldn't feel obligated in the least to follow them. But if you don't know what to write or where to begin, following the below guidelines may be helpful. Mainly, we just want you to write articles!

Contents

[edit] Divisions Scope

See also: Portal:Vietnam

This WikiProject covers the creation and editing of articles related to the nation of Vietnam, its political subdivisions, geography, transportation, culture, history, people, and so on. It aims at expanding Wikipedia's resources on Vietnam in a fair, neutral, and accurate manner. Articles currently covered by this project can be found here.

The original WikiProject Vietnamese provinces' scope was:

This is an attempt to create a WikiProject for Provinces of Vietnam. At the point of the project's creation, there is only one page on a Vietnamese province, which served as a prototype. It would be nice if the remainder of the pages could be created along similar lines. Hence, this project. If you'd like to participate, don't hesitate to join in - there are plenty of provinces to do.

Our intent is to expand and build upon that.

[edit] Infobox and Templates

[edit] Tasks

1. Finish converting Vardion's HTML infoboxes into templatized infoboxes, using {{Infobox province of Vietnam}}.

2. Standardize and improve the articles on Vietnam's provinces (some are just one sentence).

3. Try to arrive at a consistent manner of rendering article titles (i.e. should we use diacritics or not).

Comment - For articles about Vietnamese Americans who don't use diacritics when spelling their name, that's easy--we do the article titles without diacritics (though we can include them in the first paragraph). But for province names, for example, we have some with and some without. It might be best for these if we arrive at a consensus regarding one way of doing it. Badagnani 07:36, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Working on putting together Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Vietnamese). Yellowtailshark 03:45, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

4. Tag the talk pages of all Vietnam-related articles that are not already tagged with {{WPVN}}.

5. Take care of requests at Category:Wikipedia requested maps in Vietnam.

6. Take care of requests at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Vietnam.

7. Determine Hán tự for place names at Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam/Han tu requests, in order to assist Chinese Wikipedians in correctly titling their articles about these places in the Wikipedias in the various Chinese dialects.

8. Thanks largely to User:Neweco, there are now articles on all 54 officially recognized ethnic groups in Vietnam. Many of these need expansion.

9. Determine and add etymologies of the district names for each district listed at Category:Districts of Vietnam.

10. Wikilink all district names at Districts of Vietnam.
