[edit] How to help
- What we're looking for:
- Upgrading Start-Class or Stub-Class articles to B-Class: (Borrowed from WikiProject Florida)
-
- Referencing and citation
- Coverage and accuracy
- Structure
- Grammar
- Supporting materials
- Upgrading B-Class articles to GA/FA grade:
-
- Neutral point-of-view
- Well-structured and written
- Well-Rounded Coverage of University/Subject area
- (See GA/FA requirements)
- General guidelines
-
- Help verify/supply new sources
- Update figures. (Enrollment figures and number of awards fluctuate every semester/year. It drastically affects the accuracy of this encyclopedia to make sure the data displayed in the article is up-to-date.
- Check to see if the article is following the suggested WikiProject Universities article structure breakdown
- Make sure the article is NOT an advertisement. The last thing we need is a misplaced online university trying to solicit to students through our services. If it is written like an advertisement, fix it. If you cannot, notify us on the appropriate subject header on this talk page.
- Remove any instances of academic boosterism.
- Be Bold
- And most importantly...
- Have fun!
[edit] COTF Article Selection
Every fortnight (14 days), there shall be a total of three articles that this Collaboration project will improve. Selection process shall be as follows:
- One out of three articles shall be a topic editors vote on. Nominations will be set on Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities/COTF#Future COTF Nominations and topics shall be voted on.
- The second of three articles shall be selected randomly from the B-Class University articles list. The objective of this selection is to improve the selected B-Class University article so that it will be proposed to Good Article Nominations or Featured Article Review.
- The last of three articles shall be selected randomly from the Start-class or stub-class University articles lists. The objective of this selection is to improve the selected start/stub-class University article so it may be upgraded to at least a B-class article.
A designated moderator, currently set (by default) to User:Jamesontai, will be assigned to take charge of updating the winning editor nominated article as well as randomly picking two articles, one from start/stub class and one from b-class for improvement. Moderator assignments will be fixed until a need for changing the moderator is needed and a consensus to reassign the position has been reached.
[edit] Nomination Guidelines
To vote or nominate you have to be a registered user with at least one contribution that is not a vote. Anyone who does so is encouraged to make at least one edit per vote or nomination to one of our currently chosen articles. Any and all articles may be nominated except:
- Articles that are outside of the WikiProject Universities scope.
- Articles that are currently at featured status
- Articles in edit wars
- Articles that have already been on the Universities COTF
[edit] How to nominate
I |
Add nomination
Copy and paste the following template to the bottom of the list of nominations on this page and fill it out. ==={{la|Article}}=== {{Univote|start=June 11, 2008|votes=1}} <!-- Remember to update the vote counter when you place your vote! --> ; Support: # ~~~~ ; Comments: * (put your reason for nomination) --~~~~ ---- Under "comments" section put explanation of what work is needed. |
---|---|
II |
Notify
After submitting the new nomination, go to the nominated article's talk page and change the {{WikiProject Universities}} template to read:
Add {{todo}} to the top of the talk page as well, unless it's already present. |
[edit] How to vote
Sign with "# ~~~~" on the end of the list of the article you want to vote for and then update the vote count in the subhead. Opposing votes are not counted; see approval voting. You can vote for as many articles as you like. Additionally you can give a comment in the comment section; use terms such as appalling and shocking sparingly, remember that every editor that has ever edited a nominated article did so to the best of his of her ability.
[edit] How the article is selected
Article with the most votes on every other Thursday is selected as "The current Editor Nominated Topic article". If two articles have same number of votes, the older nominee wins.
[edit] How an article is removed from the list
Articles are automatically removed from the collaboration list after the 14 day period is over. However, the Editor Nominated Topic may be extended to a maximum of 28 days if and only if there is complete consensus on the COTF talk page AND at least ten (10) votes from editors (no sock puppets) stating that the topic needs another 14 days to improve upon. Randomly selected articles may not have their time extended.

- The University Portal has not been maintained in over a year and as a staple of our WikiProject should be brought up to date. --Noetic Sage 21:16, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- I believe that the portal should be maintained regularly regardless of a presence of a COTF. I understand that the portal hasn't been updated in over a year, but I seriously think that we just need a group of people who will update it constantly. I'd do it, but I want to see the jist of what how things were done with the portal prior to drastically updating the portal template. I believe that there are things we need to update and spruce up. - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 08:24, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

- I kinda agree with the above statement. Can we start a discussion on this on the project's main talk page? --Midnightdreary (talk) 15:28, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Dude, instead of asking permission, just start one on the main project's talk page already... lol it's Wikipedia. - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 09:34, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Errr... well, "dude", I didn't mean to seem like I was asking permission (and I'm well aware of the web site I'm currently on). What I meant was that we should have an ongoing discussion of portal activities on the talk page for the project. Either way, how much work has been done on this portal as a response to this nomination? As I single-handedly maintain another Portal, I'd be willing to create randomized content (like a lot of featured portals) so that the only section that would need to be updated regularly would be news. --Midnightdreary (talk) 13:23, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
- Uh...sorry... I wasn't trying to mock you or anything. I've kind of been updating the news every 14 days, but if you want to take on Portal project, please direct your comments to the Portal's talk page, listed on the project's sidebar. :-) Happy 2008! - Jameson L. - Stub list article I created that I am trying to get help on to bring up to the standards of other building articles like Dartmouth College buildings or Cornell North Campus. Currently, the article has been edited 21 times and I've done 12 of those edits. I've added several images to it and Doncram has added some text information. I am still going to continue improving this article, but any help I can get from editors through this article improvement drive would be great.--ZeWrestler Talk 17:03, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Please note that we are focusing on articles on universities and colleges themselves rather than sub-articles. This COTF nomination will not be removed, but will stay on this page until consensus has been reached to change our current COTF selection policies. - Jameson L.
