You can request missing or custom shields below. Your request will then be handled by a participant of the shields subproject. Instructions and guidelines are provided below.

Instructions:

If you are requesting missing or custom shields:

  • Click on the "new section" tab atop the page next to the "edit this page" link.
  • Fill in the fields as follows:
    • Subject/headline: A description of your request; this is typically the name of the road(s) that you are requesting a shield for.
    • Edit box: List the shields that you are requesting, with a wikilink to the main article for each shield, if possible (for example, a link to Interstate 10 would be provided when requesting Image:I-10.svg). Don't forget to sign at the end!
  • Click "Save page".
  • Another option is to use the "needs-shield" parameter in the project banner on the talk page of the article that needs the shield. Just add needs-shield=yes and the article will be added to Category:U.S. Roads project articles needing shields.

If you are requesting the repair of completed shields that are currently blank or broken in appearance:

  • Read this section for instructions on how to correct this issue.
  • If the instructions given there fail to resolve the issue, file a request in the normal manner.
Guidelines:
  • Maximum of one request per day and 10 shields per request. This is to give the shield creators enough time to create the requested shields while working at their own pace and leisure.
  • Do not request SVG images of fair use shields; it is against the Non-free content criteria (specifically criteria 3b) to do so. A PNG image will be produced instead.
  • You can find templates for shields at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Shields/Templates - you can use these templates to make the desired shields yourself, potentially saving your time. Instructions are given on the page.

Your cooperation in following the above instructions is greatly appreciated.

Project members: To accept a request, please do so by typing '''Accepted''' in your response to the request.

[edit] Old Oklahoma turnpike shields

Requesting shields for all turnpikes listed on {{Oklahoma Turnpikes}}. Current shield is available, but is fair use; I'd like to see what's out there in terms of the older shields (had an OK outline) which would probably be PD due to simplicity. Not sure if the same design was used for all turnpikes or not. —Scott5114 16:18, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Examples:
I've seen the Muskogee Tpk state-outline shield in the field last week, so perhaps this is indeed the best course of action. —Scott5114 22:16, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
I'll look into the design. It doesn't seem too difficult to make, but I may be missing something. Accept nonetheless. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 20:49, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm revoking my acceptance; I'm not going to get to this for a while if at all. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 02:56, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Capitol Loop (Lansing, Michigan)

Can someone redraw this route's shield as a svg? Imzadi1979 (talk) 22:40, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Is it public domain? If not, it may be against the NFCC to make one for it - in which case a PNG will be made instead. Although, either way will be better than the GIF that's there now... --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 21:08, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Great Lakes Circle Tour

There are 6 shields in all I'd like to request. There's one for the Great Lakes Circle Tour, plus the five individual tours. [1] TIA --Imzadi1979 (talk) 05:26, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Accept. I think that they are fair use and will need to be PNG. Carpetmaster101 15:33, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

The Lake Ontario tour doesn't appear to have its own sign per [2], probably because of the Seaway Trail in New York (which occupies half of the tour's route). (For the record, a sign for the Seaway Trail is already available on Wikipedia.) --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 18:58, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ocean Drive shield

I need a shield for Ocean Drive (New Jersey). A picture of one can be found here. Dough4872 (talk) 21:38, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

ACCEPTED but I don't know if it is fair use... Carpetmaster 101 (talk) 00:51, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] More Florida County Road lists

Once again, I'm requesting shields for lists of County Roads in Alachua County, Florida and Dixie County, Florida, but I also requesting one for Gilchrist County Road 340, and Wakulla County Road 368. I'll request the other Gilchrist County roads when I'm ready for them. ----DanTD (talk) 23:37, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

While your at it, a shield for County Road 4125 (Volusia County, Florida) on the Volusia County, Florida County Road list is also something I'd like to request. ----DanTD (talk) 04:07, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Has this request been accepted and/or done yet? -- Kéiryn (talk) 19:55, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunatley, no. The Lists of county roads in Alachua County and Dixie County, Florida haven't been touched, and besided that I recently added new shield links for List of county roads in Sumter County, Florida, which I just found out about recently. ----DanTD (talk) 21:48, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Historic shields-US 10 and 99

I would like the historic shields of US 10 and US 99 (US 99 outside of California, which has a historic shield already). An example is Image:US 66 (historic).svg. So, please upload them at the following names in svg. Thanks!

  • Image:US 99 (historic).svg
  • Image:US 10 (historic).svg

ComputerGuy890100Talk to meWhat I've done to help Wikipedia 20:44, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

That's a specific sign that's actually posted relatively frequently along the historic alignment of Route 66. Washington doesn't post any historical signs along old US 99 or US 10. -- Kéiryn (talk) 17:11, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Two unrelated shields

Need a couple of shields that I probably won't have a chance to make myself any time in the near future.

Thanks! -- Kéiryn (talk) 17:07, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Need Image:MA Route 207.svg as well for the infobox pretty pretty please. -- Kéiryn (talk) 17:20, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
The Middlesex County one is up, but since there's no template for the MA shields (and using own tactics, can't accurately determine the height of the numerals), I can't make them. —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 22:01, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

All Done. I found what was with the MA shields, both 207 and 8 are up, as well as a template for the MA shields. —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 03:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
