[edit] Style guide

This is only a draft and should not be considered policy.

The Twilight Zone is an American show and therefore all the pages related to the show should use American spelling.

Italicize when referring to TV shows such as The Twilight Zone and use quotes when referring to a single episode. For example, "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" is the an episode of The Twilight Zone.

Using the template Template:Infobox Television episode creates this infobox:

{{{Title}}}
{{{Series}}} episode
Episode no. Episode –
Written by
Original airdate
Episode chronology
← Previous Next →

After creating the box, the following parameters (or information) may be inserted into the infobox so that it will appear during editing as:

{Infobox Television episode
| Title =
| Series =
| Image =
| Caption =
| Season =
| Episode =
| Airdate =
| Production =
| Writer =
| Director =
| Photographer =
| Guests =
| Episode list =
| Prev =
| Next =
} <---Single Bracket - (See Note Below)

  • Note - Single bracket used for display purposes. When using this template, double brackets are required at the begining and end of infobox template.

[edit] Templates

Use Template:Infobox Television episode as an interim infobox until these last three are created.

[edit] Sections

Each page should contain the following sections:

Section What to include
Details: Added by the TTW episode details template.
Cast: The cast listing should be formatted as follows:
  • Cast: Following on-screen cast list, with the name of the character followed by an em dash ( or —) followed by the name of the actor
    • Cast notes: Notes regarding casting or cast members.

Any special cast notes (for example, pointing out that this was the fourth appearance of an actor in The Twilight Zone) should be added to the Cast Note subsection.

Synopsis: The synopsis should start with Rod Serling's opening narration set inside {{cquote|[narration]}}, then contain a summary of the episode. Spoiler warnings are unnecessary, as they're redundant when used in a ==Synopsis== section that clearly is going to discuss the plot. At the end, include another {{cquote|[narration]}} containing the closing narration.
Episode notes: Acceptable subsections of "Episode notes," if needed, are Themes, Reception, and Media. Consider answering questions such as:
  • How was this episode produced?
  • What were the thoughts of the writers, producers, and actors?
  • Was there written a special song for the episode or did it include an already known song?
  • Did anything special happen during the broadcasting of the episode?
  • Has this episode been reviewed by a notable reviewer or commented somewhere else? Has it been nominated for an award or even won one?
  • If this episode had an impact on popular culture, explain this.
  • What are its TV.com and IMDB ratings?
  • The Episode notes section should not be used for trivia.

Scott Zircree's The Twilight Zone Companion may provide additional useful information.

References: Zircree's book is a substantial primary source. Other sources (e.g., script books) should be noted here as well. It is not necessary to cite the episode itself.
External links: Its pages at IMDB and TV.com, and other related websites, if appropriate.

It should be noted that a collection of quotes doesn't belong to Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not), but instead belongs to Wikiquote. Therefore a link should be provided to the relevant section on Wikiquote.

Trivia sections should be eliminated and their relevant contents rolled into the article.

Also do not provide any other air dates than the original US run. Wikipedia is not a TV guide.
