This is a page to document the effort to make Season 8 a Featured topic. There really is no reason why we are doing it. We just thought it would be neat to get a Simpsons season to Featured topic status and chose Season 8 because it already had 3 GAs and an FA. Also, a (very) long term goal of the Simpsons WikiProject is to get every episode page to GA status and this is a helpful way to get started.
Any questions? Just leave them on the talk page.
[edit] Tasks
If you would like to participate, there are several ways. You could:
- Help clean up articles that are already GAs or GACs. Reviewers and copyediters are EXTREMELY helpful.
- Work on improving an article so it is A class or of FA quality. Having every article be an FA is not a requirement, but having a few helps.
- Claim an article that is unclaimed and get it to GA status.
- The Season 8 DVDs are helpful, but not required. One could simply clean up everything but the production section and then wait for somebody who owns the DVDs to add one.
- The articles should all be modelled after the current GA & FAs.
- In order to claim an article, simply put your name next to it and move it to the "Claimed articles that are not GACs". If you do not own the DVDs, then add a note and somebody will help.
- The WP:FT recommendations state that each article should have been peer reviewed. It is not a necessity, but it certainly isn't that difficult.
- Another recommendation is that topics should have under 20 articles, but I don't think it's that big of a deal because it is in a series.

[edit] Archived Featured topic candidate discussion
[edit] FT Criteria
- The articles should have a clear similarity with each other, should be in the same category, and should be grouped under one collective name that does not arbitrarily exclude items. Done
- The topic should have a lead article (The Simpsons (season 8)), which introduces and summarises the topic. Done
- There must be at least three separate articles. Done
- All articles in the series should be linked together, preferably using a template. Done
- There should not be any obvious gap (missing or stub article) in the topic. Done
- Each article should be of a good quality, including references. Not all articles need be featured class, but several should be. The rest must be all Good Articles or A class except where achieving such a class is impossible. Expect an audit of all articles not Featured or Good status to ensure that they are of a quality consistent enough with the other topics. Done
[edit] Recommendations
As well as these requirements, the following are recommended:
- The structure of the articles should be similar, having the same section titles and order where possible. Done
- The articles should use a common infobox when reasonable. Done
- Each article should have been peer reviewed.
- The topic should not be too big. There is no maximum number of articles, but as a rule-of-thumb any topic with more than 20 entries can likely be broken down into sub-topics. For example, Science fiction movies would be too large a topic, but Star Trek movies would be good. This rule-of-thumb does not apply to items in a series. For example, every article from 1st Canadian Parliament to 39th Canadian Parliament could be included in one topic.
