An article's assessment is generated from the class and importance parameters in the {{St. Louis Cardinals project}} project banner on its talk page, and the table above displays these results. As a member of this project, you can rate articles within our scope. It's easy to learn the syntax by looking at the talk pages in edit mode and by reading the info below, adapated from WikiProject Baseball's Assessment page:.
This is the rating syntax (ratings and dates are samples, change to what applies to the article in question):
- {{St. Louis Cardinals project}}
- displays the default banner, showing the project info and only ??? for the quality and importance parameters.
- {{St. Louis Cardinals project|class=Stub|importance=Low}}
- all assessed articles should have quality and importance filled in. Leaving the other parameters off does not hurt anything.
- {{St. Louis Cardinals project|class=Start|importance=Mid|attention=yes}}
- if an article needs immediate attention, add the attention tag and please leave talk notes as to why. "yes" is the only valid parameter here. If it doesn't need attention, leave the parameter off.
The following values may be used for the class parameter:
- FA, A, GA, B, Start, Stub, NA (NA being for for pages where assessment is unnecessary).
Articles for which a valid class and/or importance is not provided are listed in Category:Unassessed St. Louis Cardinals articles. The class should be assigned according to the quality scale below.
The following values may be used for the importance parameter:
- Top, High, Mid, Low
Note that this parameter is not used if an article's class is set to NA.
[edit] Importance scale
The criteria used for rating article importance are not meant to be an absolute view of how significant the topic is. Rather, they attempt to gauge the probability of the average reader of Wikipedia needing to look up the Cardinals (and thus the immediate need to have a suitably well-written article on it).
Label | Criteria | Examples |
---|---|---|
Top | The essence of the St. Louis Cardinals. These are the articles about Cardinal Hall of Famers, World Series victories, stadiums, etc. . | Stan Musial, 2006 World Series, Busch Memorial Stadium |
High | People or events that are notable in a significant and important way within Cardinal baseball, but may not necessarily be well-known outside it. Think fan-favorites and players who spent a noteable amount of time with the club. | Jim Edmonds, 1996 NLCS, Bo Hart |
Mid | Subject contributes to the total subject of WikiProject St. Louis Cardinals. Subject may not necessarily be famous. Think players who spent a short amount of time with the club. | Gregg Jefferies |
Low | Subject is not particularly notable or significant even within Cardinal baseball, and may have been included primarily to achieve comprehensive coverage of another topic. | Manny Aybar |
