Wikipedia:WikiProject Short article clean-up
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
|
It is important that Wikipedia contain quality, referenced articles. To address this, this WikiProject has been created to focus the attention of interested editors on small batches of short articles that need improvement.
- What you can do to help
Articles identified as having less than five sentences and no references are listed in subpages below, in groups of ten. Take a group of ten articles and go through them.
- If the article is a candidate for deletion, tag it for speedy deletion, prod or AFD as appropriate
- Remove inappropriately used non-free images
- Look for and fix improperly substituted templates (likely subst'ed that should not be, e.g. {{decadebox}} and {{year nav}})
- Suggestions on how to clean-up articles
Assuming they are good, and don't need to see AFD, PROD, or CSD....
- Most of these simply need a reference section, with a few references in it. We strive to be verifiable. Articles on years do not need references, nor do Disambiguation pages. See the talk page for more
- Please try to avoid tagging these with {{cleanup-xxxx}} – we already know there is a problem with these pages, and one more layer of indirection won't help get the article up to snuff any faster
- Be bold
- Have fun!
[edit] Articles requiring attention
Articles are arranged alphanumerically in subpages of 500 articles, and then in groups of ten. Be sure to evaluate the current version.
At the top of each page is a listing of how many articles met the bot's criteria for inclusion. For example, for "A": "Out of 49274 articles, 9068 articles passed this test. This means that 18.4032146771117 percent passed." There were 49274 total articles starting with "A" in the database used, of which 9068 are listed here. Letters and numbers with subpages have the same statistics for all subpages. The bot will likely be rerun monthly.
