Wikipedia:WikiProject Scouting/Organizations

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page is part of the WikiProject Scouting editing conventions, a series of supplements to the Wikipedia Policies and guidelines and the Manual of Style.
All Wikipedia policies and guidelines have clear precedence over any conventions presented here, if there is any conflict between the two. The consensus of many editors formed the conventions described here, and articles related to Scouting should heed them. However, they are not set in stone and should be treated with common sense and the occasional exception. When editing this page, please ensure that your revision reflects consensus. When in doubt, discuss first on this page's talk page.

[edit] Overview

The term Scouting refers to all groups using the Scout or Guide names. There are several Scouting groups within the scope of this project, and many exist within overlapping geopolitical areas.

[edit] Standards

[edit] Male-female issues

As stated elsewhere, the Scouting WikiProject's scope includes male, female, and coed Scouting units. Articles about the WOSM and other primarily male affiliated Scout organisations in a particular country should not mention, other than a "See also" link, the equivalent WAGGGS or other primarily female organisation in that country. Material about the WAGGGS organisation should be put into a new article, even if only a stub, and vice versa for WAGGGS/female articles and their mentioning of WOSM/male organizations. This is meant to assist in providing equal weight to female Guiding and Scouting as the project has mostly male editors.
