Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" a country/region, state, or article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced. You can also adopt an article if the work on it is primarily yours, but allow others to work on it in the best of Wiki spirit (in other words, you want to keep a close eye on it).

If you like, you can put the maintained tag on your adopted article: {{maintained}}

[edit] Adopt your state (USA)

The transition from state list to articles on Scouting in each state is complete. You can adopt your state and help fill in blanks.

[edit] Current adoptions

  • end list of states and territories that Robhmac is adding OA info
  • It should be noted that both these states (Alabama & Georgia) lack information in the recent history section, to me that means that they are incomplete.Will 23:52, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
    They also start with a discussion about racially segregated troops, when they should start with when Scouting started in the State and how, by whom, etc. --Bduke 00:00, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
    • I put the racial segregation as a starter in the 15 states of the American South (and it is not in there to be pejorative, just factual and interesting-I didn't even know that as a kid). Obviously no state is complete, none is even close, I just put what I knew about each state on their article as I find it. Note that all state articles were hastily changed from mere lists to articles in early February to prevent their wholesale deletion in the afd about lodges. None is complete by any stretch, and I would hesitate to claim them so. Chris 00:08, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
