[edit] Purpose
The ultimate purpose of the collaboration is to improve a rugby union-related article to featured article status. Preferably the articles should either be a key rugby topic (eg pages on the domestic competitions, World Cup winning teams, significant biographies) or alternatively close enough to featured article status already such that a collaboration is likely to bring it up to FA quality.
[edit] Selection criteria
A nomination can be selected once it has received four support votes. However it can only be made the collaboration once the current collaboration has been active for two weeks. If these criteria have been met then the following should be carried out:
- The link at Wikipedia:WikiProject Rugby union/Collaboration of the fortnight/current changed to that of the new collaboration.
- The {{RugbyUnionNomination}} template on the new collaborations page replaced with {{RugbyUnionFortnight}}.
- The {{RugbyUnionFortnight}} template removed from the old collaborations page, and "past-collaboration=startdate-enddate" added to the old collaborations' {{WikiProject Rugby union}} template.
- The nomination removed from the {{WPRU Announcements}} template.
- The nomination archived on this page.
- The Current collaboration section updated with a summary of the new featured article.
[edit] Current collaboration
Rugby union (short for rugby union football and often referred to as simply rugby, to a lesser extent football, or union in countries familiar with rugby union and rugby league), is an outdoor sport played by teams of 15 players with an oval ball. It is one of the two main codes of rugby football, the other being rugby league. There is also a quicker seven-a-side variation called rugby sevens, which exists in both codes.
Collaboration started 28 December 2007.
[edit] Nominations
Once you have nominated an article please add it to the list of nominations on the {{WPRU Announcements}} template.

- The sport's oldest international competition, and one of the most popular. There is a French featured article to help. - Shudde talk 04:07, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

- This is a difficult to explain to people that havn't seen it before. This article is a challenge, but a worthy one. - Shudde talk 04:05, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Comments
- I support this and I've already started contributing to it. My only concern, and it's probably too late to do anything about it, is that the title suggests it gives instructions to would-be players on how to play the game, when I think it's actually aiming to explain (to newcomers or spectators, I guess) how the game is played -- a subtle difference, but an important one. - Jimmy Pitt (talk) 19:53, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

- This article is poor in terms of material considering that he was on the World Player of the Year shortlist a few years ago.Deco16-10 16:59, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Article is poor as the fact that he is one of the most popular players on the Irish National team.User:moosekicksass
- Could do with breaking the article up as it doesn't flow like a good article normally does. Alexsanderson83 (talk) 19:34, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Infobox needs attention, very little details within the infobox on someone who is clearly a very well known sporting figure, both in Ireland and the wider world. CorleoneSerpicoMontana (talk) 02:12, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose. Header capitalization needs fixing, symbols for units of measure do not add an "s" in plural WP:MOSNUM. Gene Nygaard (talk) 19:45, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Comments:
- Updated infobox details from the Leinster and Ireland links. Still wants to be broken up as per my earlier words. Alexsanderson83 (talk) 16:44, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Women's International Rugby
Support
- Although men's internationals, not matter how minor, are recorded in huge across the 'net, no complete listing of women's internationals is available anywhere. Women's International Rugby is the first attempt to compile such a list - but it is by no means complete. This gap in the games history and knowledge can and should be closed Johnlbirch 21:05, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] South Africa national rugby union team
The South Africa national rugby union team is a national sporting side, representing South Africa in rugby union. Rugby union is very popular in South Africa, and the national team was the best in the world in 1919-1950. Springboks compete annually with All Blacks and Australia in the Rugby Union Tri Nations. They won the World Cup in 1995 for their first participation. They are the first top ranked team in the world in November 2007.[1] Victor Matfield, Bryan Habana, Percy Montgomery are great actual champions as Naas Botha, Danie Craven, Frik du Preez are great past champions... Nine former springboks players have been inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame. They win the World Cup... Please help improve it to featured article standard. There is a French [[fr:Équipe d'Afrique du Sud de rugby à XV|featured article] to help.

- Reason:
Had quite an eventful time in professional rugby in England. Big name in both codes and reckon this article could be step up to a good article.

- Alexsanderson83 (talk) 15:45, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Londo06 21:50, 25 February 2008 (UTC) - Have worked on the article in the past, not sure how much more I have to offer but I will help out. Gotta be some verifiable stuff out there on his Wigan days surely.
- Oppose:
- Symbols for units of measure do not add an "s" in plural. Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Unit symbols and abbreviations. Gene Nygaard (talk) 19:49, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Not because it wouldn't be good to improve the article, but mainly because his rugby union career was rather brief, and the article is of low importance relative to other nominations. - Shudde talk 23:42, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ddfree (talk) 22:44, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think the nomination period has since lapsed, but any particular reason you oppose the returning England international.Londo06 06:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
