Welcome to the Chicago folk task force of WikiProject Roots music and Wikiproject Chicago.

The Chicago folk task force covers the American folk music types covered in this List of North American folk music traditions from the point of view of Chicago-centric folk artists. Currently we have an emphasis on Artists and Teachers who have been associated with Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music. We will also address folk and roots flavored festivals in the Chicago area.

[edit] Guidelines

[edit] Tagging and assessment

Any articles that are within the scope of this project should be tagged with the project banners of WikiProject Roots music and Category:Chicago folk musicians and Category:Old Town School Of Folk Musicians . You may also find {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} useful. To each of these banners, you should add Chicago-folk-task-force = yes as this will automatically put the page in the appropriate categories., such as Category:Chicago folk task force articles.

The text you probably want is:

{{WP Roots music/Article Scope|class=|importance=|needs-infobox=|nested=|Chicago-folk-task-force=yes}}

The importance levels in the tagging scheme work as follows:

  • Top: Topics related to the scene in general or The Old Town School OF Folk Music
  • High: Festivals, Nationally Known Artists from Chicago, Wiedly folk songs regularly played in chicago (these don't need to be tagged with the Chicago Folk Category, only if they are chicago related.
  • Mid: Artists and Teachers well known in the chicago folk scene.
  • Low: Other Individual musicians, Songs written by chicago folk songwriters. Albums released by chicago based folk musicians
