Wikipedia:WikiProject Religion/Religious leaders work group
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Religious Figures Work Group is a working group of members of the Religion WikiProject dedicated to ensuring quality and coverage of biography articles.
Since biographies, specifically biographies of living people, are within the scope and expertise of Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography, it is important that we work in tandem with these projects. Also, when seeking collaboration on articles, don't neglect to approach WikiProjects that are part of the geographical region your subject is/was in.
Increase the exposure of our work group by nominating our articles for their Portal FA and DYKs... Specific regional/country portals are listed in that section.

[edit] Scope
It has not escaped our notice that many or most of the people who have articles in wikipedia are included in one or more religious categories. This is fine. However, we do not have the personal, or the remit, to deal with all of these articles. On that basis, we will be limited ourselves to those individuals who have or have had a position of power and/or responsibility in their given religion. This will include Popes, Patriarchs, Bishops, Abbots, Abbesses, Priests, and any other figures in positions of power and/or responsibility in their churches.
[edit] Directions for expanding any division below
The general outline and collection has been started, but if you would like to expand and organize a specific religious group, here's what you do. Right below the page heading for your country/region insert this: {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Religion/Work groups/Division banner}} and save. This will put a rough outline together for you (see Islam) and then you can edit it to conform to your area. If your project grows large enough where it's taking up a good portion of this page, you should probably move it to a subpage of this page, like Christianity.
A good place to look for requested articles for your area is the Missing articles project for politicians
[edit] Tagging articles
Any article related to this work group should be marked by adding religious-work-group=yes
to the {{WPReligion}} project banner at the top of its talk page This will automatically place it into Category:Religious figures work group articles.
