[edit] Hello, World! in <language>

What do you think? —Noldoaran (Talk) 22:47, Dec 15, 2003 (UTC)

Oh, I added a bunch of stuff like this to the talk page, never saw this. How do you want to go about cleaning it up now? Brent 20:47, 2003 Dec 23 (UTC)

I like yours better ;-) —Noldoaran (Talk) 00:51, Mar 18, 2004 (UTC)

A suggestion if I may: Aside from a hello world example, an example that shows a more complex side of the language (for example finding primes up to a given number or similar). That would make the differences (recursion, functions/subroutines, etc) easier to see. I'll be happy to help out. Mikkel 01:37, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Programming Languages Bar

Template:List of programming languages

What do you guys think? Yorick, Jester of Elsinore 07:58, 2004 Apr 11 (UTC)

I think it's really nice, but I would perhaps prefer that BASIC could stand for itself, i.e. that we don't include QBASIC (and Visual Basic?) in the list. As it is, there's a list of BASIC dialects in the BASIC article for people to use. However, in light of VB's preponderance in the MS Windows environment, it might warrant a place of its own on the table, I guess... Also, if PostScript is included we risk by consequence having to include other page description languages as well, such as HTML, TeX, dvi(?), etc. I therefore suggest we consider PS' place on the list. --Wernher 15:18, 12 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Note that PostScript and TeX are Turing complete, which might make them worthy of being called programming languages, unlike HTML. --Daniel Bonniot de Ruisselet 5 July 2005 04:03 (UTC)
Why is Jython listed seperately from Python? It's just an implementation of Python, like CPython (which I notice isn't listed seperately). Eurleif 16:42, May 2, 2004 (UTC)
