- 1. How did you first hear of Wikipedia, and why did you decide to become a Wikipedia editor?
- A: I found Wikipedia through Google. It was almost always the #1 result for my searches, and contained all of the information I needed. I eventually decided to check out its home page, and registered an account in May 2006. My activity picked up that August, and that's when my career really got started.
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: My best contributions to Wikipedia aren't actual edits, but the new users that I've mentored and turned into good Wikipedians. Have I ever written a GA or FA? No, I haven't, but I can't even begin to count the number that have been written by people I've taught. My best contributions are some of Wikipedia's best contributors.
- 3. What is the origin(s) of your username?
- A: I'm half man, half sexy sea bass :P. In reality, it describes my Libertarian politics; socially Liberal, and fiscally Conservative.
- 4. What other project(s) do you participate in on Wikipedia besides WP:PW?
- A: Unless the CVU counts, I don't participate in any. I've dabbled with some other projects in the past, but they've never really done it for me. I'll occasionally branch out into the political arena, but the disputes there are far more common and far more extreme than anything WP:PW has ever seen, so I try to limit myself.
- 5. What do you like most about Wikipedia? What do you hate the most about Wikipedia?
- A: What do I like the most? The friends that I've made. While many have come and gone, and there will be many more who do the same, I'm glad that I've known these people in some way. Even though most of us don't really know anything about each other, we know that we like each other. This site emphasizes what we all have in common (other than the political area :P), instead of what divides us, so there is a unity nothing in the physical world can even rival. What do I hate the most? Nothing major can be changed without conflict. While to some degree that's good thing, as it protects us from major errors, we aren't trained lawyers or politicians who can yell and scream at each other while at work, and go to lunch afterwards knowing that it was nothing personal. However, I think that this site is the ideal, in that everyone is free to do basically whatever they want. The only potentially unreasonable expectations are social, which is as it should be. Is this place perfect? No, but nothing is. I wouldn't give this great community up for the world.
Wrestling related
- 1. How did you begin watching professional wrestling?
- A: A couple of years ago some friends of mine got me watching Thursday Night SmackDown! and the rest is history. I missed WCW, and the Attitude Era in general. I started watching when John Cena was just beginning his rise to the main event while he was in his third US Title reign.
- 2. Who is your favorite wrestler, and why?
- A: John "Bradshaw" Layfield, because he has great mic skills, and I always found him very entertaining as a wrester, before his retirement of course. I'm very happy to hear that he is coming out of retirement, but I hope he doesn't hurt himself. A lot of it has to do with how successful he's become outside of the ring, however. I respect anyone who rises to the top of our Capitalist system.
- 3. If you were to enter pro wrestling, what would you choose your entrance theme to be?
- A: Not really a good wrestling theme, but "Capitalism" by Oingo Boingo. Some of their other songs are pretty weird, but I like that one. lyrics, YouTube - no real music video, but you can hear the song.
- 4. If you were in control of any of the major wrestling promotions (WWE/TNA/etc.), what would you change about them?
- A: In the WWE, I'd give the cruiserweights a bigger spot, and some real opportunities to move up the card. I'd also work on setting up some very long-term feuds, as in months of build up and years playing it out off-and-on, before finally making it official, and setting up the match. Oh, and Khali, he has to go. In TNA, I'd fire Russo to get rid of the seemingly erratic booking of matches, and work on slowing the show down a bit. I'd also set up long-term feuds there, such as working on reviving the Chris Harris/James Storm feud slowly over the course of months, or years, and then slowly playing it out in tandem with other feuds.
- 5. What has been your favorite wrestling match/event of all-time?
- A: Cena vs. Michaels at WrestleMania, and the RAW immediately afterwards. Both were equally entertaining matches.
Personal
- 1. What city/area do you currently live in?
- A: I live in Arizona, in a suburb of the capital.
- 2. What other language(s) do you speak besides English?
- A: I don't speak any other languages, but I know a fair amount of Spanish simply from living in a border state. However, I know next-to-nothing about the grammatical structure, and even if I did I don't know enough vocabulary to carry on a conversation.
- 3. What are your interests?
- 4. What do you do in your spare time when you aren't editing Wikipedia/at work/at school/etc.?
- A: Eat Chicken while watching CNBC, using the subtitles if a hockey game is on, which I'd be listening to on the radio :P. In reality, I spend most of my time with my family. My 3-year-old niece is my favorite person in the whole world :)
- 5. If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you bring with you?
- A: An A/C heater, a tent, and a solar laptop with satellite internet.
Community-asked questions
- 1. Have any angles in professional wrestling just made you think "ugh" or just are plain distasteful? (by D.M.N.)
- A: The angle with Edge and Vicky Guerrero gives me the jibblies. She's Eddie's widow, for God's sake! As far as the past goes, the standard answers apply; Kattie Vick and the like.
- 3. It has recently come to my attention that you happen to be a secret agent. Have you been sent to rid Wikipedia of a certain banned editor? What other secret agent-type activities do you participate in? (by Nikki311)
- A: I've been sent here to save the Wrestling portion of Wikipedia from vandalism and sockpuppetry with my individual combination of brutal honesty, good humor, and laziness. I've been given permission team up with vigilantes, local law enforcement, and the non-classified feds, but I am to remain strictly a lone-gun. Hornetman is simply the latest in a long line of sockpuppeteers I've been tasked with taking down. User:Bowser Koopa, and User:Ockenbock, come to mind, but there are many others.
- 4. How exactly does one become half human and half sea bass? (by Nikki311)
- A: One signs up at a local recruitment office to become a grunt. If one impresses, they will eventually become an apprentice, and train under a Journeyman for four years, eventually becoming one themselves. After 5 years as a Journeyman, one is eligible to become a foreman. After two years, they can request their Journeyman legs back, as I did.
- 5. What are you wearing? (by Nikki311)
- A: I'm a Libertarian; I don't believe in clothing ;P
- 6. If you can be in a tag team with any professional wrestler, who would you choose? (by Lex)
- A: I would probably choose CM Punk, just because he's a cool guy. I like tattoos that are actually meant as a form of self-expression, and not meant to tell other members of society that they can suck it.
Any optional comments by the interviewee
- This was a lot of fun, and I hope that this interview helped all of you understand me a little bit better. My thanks to D.M.N., ThinkBlue, Nikki311, and Lex for their questions, and I hope that future interviews will receive as many fun questions as mine did. If anyone has their own questions, feel free to shoot me a message on my talk page or email me. And remember, you're allowed to ask hard-hitting questions in these interviews. Peace, SexySeaBass
