[edit] 20 Questions
- What have been your greatest accomplishments as a member of WikiProject Professional Wrestling?
- A: I have made major contributions to several articles that have been promoted to Good Article status. Two of them (Jos LeDuc and Ion Croitoru) were wrestler biographies that I always felt were noticeable absences from Wikipedia, so I created them and other editors helped get them promoted.
- In what areas to the project do you contribute to significantly (i.e. pay-per-views, biographies, championship related articles, etc.)?
- A: I have worked on several pay-per-view articles from the years that I watched wrestling. Five of them have been promoted to GA status, and another one will be nominated once our nomination backlog clears out a little.
- Have you turned any professional wrestling articles into GAs, FAs, or FLs? If yes, which articles? If not, do you plan on doing so in the future?
- A: I mentioned seven of them above (the biographies, SummerSlam (1993), Royal Rumble (1994), WrestleMania X, King of the Ring (1994), and SummerSlam (1994)). I also did some major cleanup to Money Inc. and it passed a GA review. The closest I've come to creating any featured content is List of WCW World Heavyweight Champions, which I cleaned up and sourced. It was promoted to Featured List, but I haven't been the major contributor to any featured content yet.
- Aside from this project, what other areas of Wikipedia do you work in? Are you as active there as you are here?
- A: This is the only Wikiproject that I participate in. I've also been dabbling in other areas of Wikipedia lately (Good Article reviews, deletion discussions, etc.) to get a better sense of how the whole thing works.
- How long have you been a member of this project?
- A: Since I found out about it, which was September 2007.
- What is the origin of your username?
- A: I can't honestly say that I know. The Gary Coleman part is, of course, a reference to the actor who portrayed Arnold on Diff'rent Strokes. I never really watched the show much, though, so I don't know why I chose the username.
- As Editor of the Week, what advice do you have for other project members?
- A: Not to take Wikipedia too seriously. You don't get money or a diploma for your edits, so make sure that real life comes first and that you actually enjoy what you do on Wikipedia.
- What is your strong point with this project, that you'd be willing to help other member's with?
- A: I've got a great memory of what I consider wrestling's glory days (1993-1995), but I watched a bit on either side of that, so I can help with information from that time period. I also enjoy copyediting and proofreading, so I try to help with that when I have time.
- What areas would you like to spend more time in, in the future?
- A: I would like to continue with the pay-per-views for the time period that I remember well. I would also like to expand some more biographies and help out with the stub article improvement.
- Are you an administrator? If yes, what admin work do you partake in? If not, would you like to be one in the future, and why?
- A: No, and I'm not convinced that it's what I want. I'm mostly just interested in working on wrestling articles, so I'll probably stick with that.
- Who is your favorite professional wrestler?
- A: I love WrestleCrap and all of the absurd gimmicks. Anything like Papa Shango, Repo Man or Mantaur is just great.
- If you were an authority figure in WWE, TNA, or any other wrestling promotions, what would you do to improve your company?
- A: Fire everyone and bring back the absurd gimmicks from the early to mid-1990s.
- Have you ever met any professional wrestlers? If so, who was is and what were they like? If not, who would you like to meet?
- A: Shawn Michaels jumped over the barricade to pose with the crowd during a match I was at. He was right beside me, so I told him what I thought of him. The conversation went back and forth for a while, and he did a great job of playing up the arrogant character ("I make too much money to care what people like you think."). I was impressed with him, although I still can't stand him. I've met a few of the Harts. Stu was great; Bruce was not. After one event, Bret stuck around the ringside area for about half an hour shaking hands, which I thought was really classy.
- What professional wrestling shows do you watch weekly, if any?
- A: None. I stopped watching in late 1996.
- Do you order any professional wrestling pay-per-views? If yes, which ones and from which promotion. If not, is there a specific reason?
- A: No, but I used to get them all.
- What do you like most about Wikipedia? What do you like least?
- A: I like that there is information about almost anything. The least favorite part would probably be the editors who deliberately add false information. I find it more annoying than vandalism because it might never be caught and fixed.
- Are there any editors in specific that you look up to, or try to be like?
- A: I think we've got a great group of editors at WP:PW, and I've learned from all of them. I do tend to go to Nikki311 for help quite a bit.
- What are your other interests besides professional wrestling?
- A: I enjoy other sports (both playing and watching). I also love to read classic literature.
- What does it mean to you to be "Editor of the Week"?
- A: It's a nice show of appreciation. It's flattering to see that other editors think highly of my contributions. With that said, D.M.N. does a great job as well and deserves to be recognized. If Editor of the Week stays, I would like to see him get another shot.
- If for one day only, you were the only human on planet earth that was able to edit Wikipedia, what you do, and why?
- A: I have no idea. A lot of my editing is kind of isolated as it is (pay-per-views and biographies that other people aren't working on), so I don't know that it would change much.
