[edit] Reborn
Okay, many of you guys are probably getting annoyed by me now but I think this is a great idea and ive been working hard on it.
So what is thePCR? Well, its the THIRD rebirth of the Playstation Community Radio with a shorter name and easier to use features.
What "features"? Well, first of all I switched from listen2myradio.com to a ubroadcaster, which was easier for me, but locked out all non-windows users. Ive switched back to listen2myradio, and now it works ON ALL OPERATING SYSTEMS, including streaming to the PS3 or PSP.
Okay so im getting tired of the corny question answer thing already. Basiclly its a lot easier to listen to. All you need is internet and a web browser.
Link to listen to the radio is: http://thepcr.listen2myradio.com Looking for anyone that wants to DJ or do live shows (like a podcast or something).
Please email songs and applications to playstationradio@gmail.com
please do not down vote this story if you do not like thePCR, thats almost as bad as a five year old cussing on XBL...
Please leave any comments here (I dont want this to die like the first three!!!)
Thank You for all of your support...
[edit] Introduction
The Playstation Community Radio is a community sponsored internet radio sharing music, discussing thoughts and new ideas, and connecting playstation users around the world. As of right now, it is merely a 2-3 listener operation (12/06/07). It was created, and mostly hosted by,User:Nugz1212 (Playstation Network name nUgZ) . It employs the use of SHOUTcast streaming technology to allow a DJ to use a broadcasting program, such as Winamp or SAM Broadcaster to stream music and audio to a server, hosted by listen2myradio[1], which distributes the stream to up to 500 users simultaneously.
[edit] Early concept
After a post on the HOME forums [2] by mreverdred01, nugz1212 got the idea to create a radio station that is managed by the public rather than the Sony Corporation.
[edit] Server Information
The Radio is hosted by listen2myradio[3]. It currently uses the mp3 codec at 128kbps, and can serve up to 500 listeners at a time.
[edit] How it Works
This is a vague image illustrating how the server theoretically works.
1. A DJ uses winamp or broadcaster to play his music and send a special signal to the server at listen2myradio.
2. listen2myradio receives the signal, and outputs it to the radio webpage and prepares a signal to be sent out to up to 500 listeners.
3. Each listener receives the signal and is able to here good quality radio and or talk.
[edit] Ways to listen to the radio
There are many ways to listen to the radio station.
- The easiest way is to visit the website, here. [4]
- There is also a way to listen via iTunes and any other player that supports PLS files. On the bottom of the web page, there should be a link that says "WINAMP Click Here", it will automatically take you to the file, and your browser should ask if you want to save it or not.
[edit] Easy DJ Kit
Due to the constant server change and the rebirth, the Easy DJ Kit is currently not avaible, please check back later.
