Wikipedia:WikiProject Percussion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome to WikiProject Percussion, a WikiProject dedicated to improving all percussion-related articles.
Goals:
- To improve percussion-related articles to good or featured standard. (Timpani had for a long time been our flagship article, but it is now a delisted FA.)
- To improve categorization of percussion related articles.
- To rate and review percussion related articles.
- To compile a list of useful resources on percussion to use in article referencing and writing.
Scope:
- All percussionist biographies and articles on percussion instruments, technique, and notation/composition.
Structure:
- We are a rather small project, so having directors and coordinators seems like overkill. Unless our membership expands greatly, we are just a discussion and article improvement center.

[edit] Tasks
- Rate articles in Category:Percussion with our new assessment scale.
- Get started on Category:Percussionist stubs! When expanding stubs, be sure to submit any really interesting info to Did you know..?
- Improve Portal:Percussion to featured portal standard. It is currently on peer review.
- Get timpani listed as a good article, then relisted as an featured article.
- Verify percussion articles. We currently have very few articles with appropriate amounts of referencing. Sadly, the vast majority of good percussion literature available online is not free (like the PAS archives and mammoth Grove encyclopedias.)
- If you are able, record some samples for articles and upload them to Commons.
- Look through the percussion category and find some good factoids for the percussion portal's DYK section.
- Get list of percussion instruments to featured list status.
- Take a stab at Category:Percussion instrument stubs.
