[edit] Scope

This project covers the creation and editing of articles related to the U.S. State Oklahoma, its cities, counties, geography, transportation, culture, history and so on. It aims to expand Wikipedia's resources on Oklahoma in a fair and accurate manner.

Frankly, most of the Oklahoma related articles are rather poor. This project is here to fix that.

Everyone is welcome to help out. In fact, there's more than enough work to go around. You can help us out in the following ways:

  1. reading over articles and giving your suggestions in the article's talk pages
  2. copyediting for grammar and clarify
  3. adding photos
  4. reverting vandalism
  5. citing sources
  6. fact checking
  7. minor or major research and contributions
  8. and more!

[edit] Adopt an article

Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.

Check Wikipedia:WikiProject Melbourne#Adopt an article to see how this section is used.

[edit] Requests

Got some requests? Add them here.

  • Friday Newspaper is a legal paper of record that's been around since '73, I believe. It's not listed in any news or media related pages, and it'd be a conflict of interest for me to add it. It's unique and worthy of inclusion.
  • I think it's time Tulsa World got some attention. Part of the content was written by a World staffer, and there's some slow-moving debate about the paper's political alignment. --D Wilbanks 06:34, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Can I get some help deciding which version to revert to/developing University of Central Oklahoma? Most of the content there now (the entire History section) is lifted verbatum from the University's website. See the talk page for the specifics. Thanks. steventity 04:52, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
I reverted to the last edit before the copyrighted material was added. Please revert if you feel this was a mistake and the material did not violate copyright. Also, please feel free to add to the article and to all Oklahoma university articles- they need your help (non-copyrighted material, of course). steventity 19:51, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Well, not all of them. I'd like to think the University of Oklahoma article is pretty well written. As a matter of fact, it is up for a peer review right now so any help would be appreciated. I am close to nomination for Featured Article.--NMajdantalk 20:10, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Anybody feel like taking a look at Southern Nazarene University and working on the advert like qualities? While the advert tag was recently removed, a quick read through should make it evident that more work is needed. -steventity 15:18, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
  • I wonder if someone would take a moment to look at the Kim Holland page (particularly the 2006 election section). I fleshed out the article some and added citations, but I'm not a purely unbiased source for that article, given that I worked for Commissioner Holland, so a second (or third) set of eyes would probably be a good idea. Philippe Beaudette 23:25, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Oklahoma City needs a tremendous ammount of serious work. As dramatic as it sounds, I have serious concerns that it is probably Wikipedia's worst article for an American large city. Would someone like to take an interest in this article? Okiefromoklatalk 04:24, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Not so bad anymore, but still need work.Okiefromoklatalk 19:01, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
  • I have created an article on former Oklahoma State Senator Gene Stipe, but I am having trouble finding much information on him other than his current legal and health problems. Any assistance in expanding the article would be appreciated --TommyBoy (talk) 02:43, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Template:Current Oklahoma Legislature needs be updated to reflect the recent resignation of state House Speaker Lance Cargill. I would do this myself, but I have not heard who Cargill's replacement is. --TommyBoy (talk) 19:39, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Task Complete.--TommyBoy (talk) 06:31, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Matt Holliday - Reassessment Request - I should have probably posted this a long time ago, but I've made significant changes to the player page of Matt Holliday since late last year when the article was just a bunch of disorganized paragraphs with no headings or expansive content. I haven't made as many edits on the article since late last year (as I've already done many of the major revisions); however, seeing as how the article seems to now be beyond a stub-class, I thought I'd submit a reassessment request. -- Luke4545 (talk) 16:26, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
  • List of fossils of Oklahoma I'd love to learn the different types of fossils found here, otherwise, I have to look through books. :( Thank you if anyone adds it! --HoopoeBaijiKite 23:24, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
  • If anyone here is interested in putting the Clayton Bennett article on a watch list or wants to improve this article, I would appreciate it. The article has suffered repeated vandal and POV edits from Washington-area editors. Chicken Wing (talk) 23:33, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
