Welcome to the Norse history and culture WikiProject, a collaboration area and group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of Norse history and culture.
(For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject and the Guide to WikiProjects).
[edit] Goals
- To improve all articles on Wikipedia on the history and culture of the Norse people, particularly bringing stubs up to full article status, and full articles to Good Article and ultimately featured status.
[edit] Scope
This Wikiproject will focus on articles relating to the history, culture, language, and religion of the Norse people, both at home in Scandinavia and in their many overseas colonies through the ages, up to the time of the Kalmar Union in 1397. The best-known time period covered by this project is the Viking Age, but the focus will also be on the less-well known Nordic Bronze Age, Pre-Roman Iron Age, and the Norsemen during the High Middle Ages (c. 1000-1300).
General areas covered by this wikiproject:
- History, i.e., events that are documented in historical times
- Events, such as battles, unions, etc.
- Personalities, such as kings, earls, chieftans, etc.
- Political geography, tied in with history
- Ethnology and archeology
- Literature, especially sagas
- Language and linguistics
- Mythology and religion
