NORFOLK, NEBRASKA, A growing city in Northeast Nebraska. Former home of entertainer Johnny Carson of the Tonight Show. Carson as a teenager worked at the Granada Theatre. Roger Ofe formerly of Norfolk was a classmate of Carson in grade school and later became a jeweler and watchmater and worked at Wetzel and Truex Jewelers before operating his own jewelry store. Roger Ofe's son Alan Ofe also worked the Granada Theatre, which was the nicest and largest theatre Norfolk ever had. Before Johnny Carson's death he donated funds to one of the local colleges for a new theatre.
Norfolk has one of the largest livestock auctions in the U.S.
