The project aims primarily to:
- Create and improve articles whose content is connected to the National Basketball Association organization.
- Set up consistent structural and graphical layouts for displaying information on these articles.
Other goals include:
- Bring as much content about the NBA to featured status.
- Maintenance of the Basketball Portal.

The WikiProject National Basketball Association was formed on July 7, 2005 as a subproject of WikiProject Sports. Although the NBA is covered fairly well on Wikipedia, there is so much more that can be done! Recently, there has been a lot of debate over the content of the individual NBA team pages, with different pages taking different ideas. Moreover, there is a lack of dedicated basketball projects on Wikipedia, and it is time to change that.
If you feel that you can have a positive contribution to the project, become a member by joining the list of members. If you don't know what to write or where to begin, or if you have doubts or ideas on how to improve an article, please address the project's discussion forum.
