[edit] Parts of an Article
The following are the parts of an article in order of placement.
[edit] Hatnotes
The first thing needed in an article is a hatnote (if necessary). This is simply a link to a disambiguation page or an article with the same or similar name. Often times this is not needed.
[edit] Lead
The first question that the reader will probably ask themselves is "Is this the article that I am looking for?" The lead is one of the most important parts of the article as it tells the reader what the general idea of the article is. The first sentence should include the name of the subject in bold ('''Subject'''
). For albums also add italics to the subject ('''''Album Name'''''
). For songs add quotations outside of the bold ("'''Song Name'''"
). The lead should also includes some basic information (even if it is already covered in the infobox).
A common mistake in the lead is using weasel words and saying something to the effect of "Many believe that this is the best album ever." An improved replacement for such a phrase would be "This album is widely regarded as a good album." followed by references to reviews from well-known game review websites.

One thing that cannot be stressed enough is to put an infobox on the page. For those who do not know what an infobox is, an infobox is a box on the right hand side of the page that gives the reader basic information on the game. The infoboxes used for My Chemical Romance related articles is {{Infobox Album}}, {{Infobox Song}}, {{Infobox Single}}, and {{Infobox Musical artist}}. A full list of musical infoboxes is available at: Category:Music infobox templates. An example of what an album infobox might look like is to the right-hand side of this paragraph. The necessary code to put on the page for all infoboxes is below. Not all of the code is needed for absolutely every article, although for the ease of future editing, please copy all of it when the infobox is being created in case another editor decides they want to fill it in. Lastly, please avoid using fair use images in the infobox with the exception being art for an album or single (which should be included in the infobox).

[edit] Overview/Information
An overview of the information about the song, album, or the band is generally necessary. Do not go into too much detail as we want a general overview, not a novel about it. Information can also be split up into other sections for further organization. An overview will be different depending upon the subject. While albums and songs will contain release information and creation information and the band articles will contain biographical information.
Finally, while writing, please follow the guidelines for WP:OR and WP:FANCRUFT.
[edit] References
Citing your sources of information is always necessary for ease of reading, you should create a references section. To create a references section please add:
==References== </references>
Then properly cite your sources throughout the article using in-line citation and it should all appear properly down there. A nice tool to use to properly source your references is at this location.
If you are looking for some references, a good place to start is by doing a search engine search typing in the information needed. Of course the references must comply with WP:RS and this isn't always the best method. A good place to start is information from My Chemical Romance themselves at http://www.mychemicalromance.com and then moving on to magazine articles and interviews. There is no orignial research on Wikipedia so information must be sourced. This includes but not limited to information, quotes, song analysis, rumors, trivia, criticism and future singles.
[edit] Stub Templates
As there are no stub categories specifically for My Chemical Romance related articles, so please use {{musician-stub}} for band member articles, {{band-stub}} for band articles, {{Album-stub}} for album related articles, and {{song-stub}} for song related articles. For a full list of music related stub templates visit Wikipedia:WikiProject_Stub_sorting/Stub_types#Music. The stubs listed above are not the ones you have to use, if you can find a better one please use it. Of course, stub templates are only necessary if the article is stub-sized.
[edit] Navigation Templates
The appropriate template to place at the bottem of all My Chemical Romance related articles is {{My Chemical Romance}}. Regardless of the subject this is to be placed at the bottem of all articles relating to My Chemical Romance.
[edit] Categories
All My Chemical Romance related articles should be placed in Category:My Chemical Romance. If the article is also a song article it should also go in Category:My Chemical Romance songs. If the article is also an album article then it should also be placed in Category:My Chemical Romance albums. The categories are for better organization for all My Chemical Romance related articles.
[edit] Interwiki Links
Please place interwiki links with [[Link]] on information where appropriate. Place them on single names or album names, band member names, dates, genres, or any other types of information that may have another Wikipedia article. Please try and avoid linking to something more than once to something in the same article. Also to change the name of a link type [[Link|New name]].
[edit] Writing Style
These are some tips on writing in an encyclopedic fashion.
[edit] Tense
Use common sense when working with the tense. Please try to avoid words such as "recently" when working with the tense. Try using dates which are more specific. If something already happened use past tense and if something is going to happen then use future tense.
[edit] Formatting
Italicize album names and add quotations to song names.
[edit] Neutral Point of View
It may be hard for many people, but please try and keep a neutral point of view when writing. That includes not using weasel words as discussed in the lead section. Remember that this is an encyclopedia, not a forum or review website.
[edit] Notability
Another thing to keep in mind in creating an article is notability. Please make sure an article is notable before creating it. Please check WP:NOTABLE and WP:MUSIC for notability guidelines. If an article is not notable it is sure to be deleted.
[edit] Talk Pages
On the article's talk page please start out with the following:
{{WikiProject My Chemical Romance|class=}}
This adds the template for WikiProject My Chemical Romance. For information on the |class= part of the template please visit the Assessment Department which has information on rating articles and has the job of assessing articles.
More information on assessment and peer reviewing is in the section Taking the Next Steps - The Path to FA.
[edit] Taking the Next Steps - The Path to FA
For information on assessing an article please visit the Assessment Department.
To the right of this section, you will see "The path to a Featured Article" which shows the six steps that are usually taken to get your article to FA status (the best status of an article in Wikipedia).
To assess articles though you must use one of the article clasess.
FA |
A |
GA |
B |
Start |
Stub |
As you can see, the level up from "B" is "GA" a.k.a. "Good Article". Wikipedia wrote about what a Good Article is at WP:GA?. To become a GA you must nominate the article at WP:GAC.
The same goes for a "Featured Article" or "FA". You can view information about Featured Articles at WP:FA?. You can also view a list of all Featured Articles at WP:FA and must nominate an article before it becomes a Featured article at WP:FAC.
