[edit] The depreciation of genre specific genrebox templates
As specifically tailored genre infobox templates become more prevalent on subgenre articles, there is no longer a need for parent genres to have specific templates that contain their own genrebox. The following genre specific genrebox templates need to be merged with the relevant genre articles then proposed for deletion;
- Template:Altrock (talk, links, edit)
- Template:bluesbox (talk, links, edit)
- Template:Ccm (talk, links, edit)
- Template:emo (talk, links, edit)
- Template:punkbox (talk, links, edit)
- Template:hardcorepunkbox (talk, links, edit)
- Template:hiphopgenrebox (talk, links, edit)
- Template:jazzbox (talk, links, edit)
- Template:metalcore (talk, links, edit)
- Template:pop (talk, links, edit)
- Template:RockBox (talk, links, edit)
- Template:smoothjazz (talk, links, edit)
[edit] Genrebox traceback project
The project here is to start with your favourite genre, and (after adding a genrebox if necessary), click on all the links in the "stylistic origins" section, and ensure that they have genreboxes too. Then go to the stylistic origins of those and make more genreboxes, and keep going until you can't go any further (this usually means that you have gotten to some kind of traditional music).
In this section, feel free to list any styles that need genreboxes.
[edit] Rock music origins
I've traced rock music back until I got to the following points:
That's correct; if you trace the origins of rock, you will find all these. The ones I've listed are the ones that I got to before I started working on something else. Country music has a genrebox you can use to trace back into other styles, but the others all need genreboxes added. If anyone wishes to continue, that would be great; I plan to come back to it myself sometime, too.
