The little codes or tags shown below, when added to a page on Wikipedia, perform little bits of behind-the-scenes "Wiki-magic" that help Project members keep track of, work on, and improve articles and related categories. Each template is fully documented so you can see how and where to use it (and where not to use it). Just select the name of the template for more information.

[edit] Proposals

If you have a new idea for a template, you can bold and just create it. However, if the template will be used in the main article space on a lot of different articles, it is probably a good idea to discuss it first. Project members have already learned the hard way that not all seemingly good ideas are viewed that way by other Wikipedians (and it turns out, after discussing it, the other Wikipedians were right!).

List of current proposals
Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed Drinks/Templates/Proposals/Example - Replace Example with the name of your proposal. Avoid slashes (/) or pound signs (#) in proposal or template names since they complicate linking.
Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed Drinks/Templates/Proposals/Example - This is the place to demo the new template that is being proposed. Replace Example with the name of the proposal as above.
Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed Drinks/Templates/Proposals/Example/doc - Documentation goes on a separate page from the template itself, and then the docs are transcluded into the template. Willscrlt will be happy to help you get this working if you have any questions.

[edit] Article Templates

The following templates should be placed directly within the article or list, but only as specified. If you add a template here, remember that no self-referencing templates should be used in the main article space, except for stub tags (and they should be as unobtrusive as possible).

[edit] Infobox

{{WPMIXInfobox}} - displays a highly configurable, user-friendly table of information concerning mixed drinks, cocktails, drinkware, and garnishes in the upper right of each related article.

[edit] IBA Official Cocktails

Note: The {{WPMIXInfobox}} has built-in support for IBA Official Cocktails, and the following mini-badge should not be used anywhere other than in lists linking to the cocktails.
{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed Drinks/Templates/Badges/IBAOfficialMini}} - for inline use within lists. Only place this tag immediately following the names of cocktails designated as International Bartender Association Official Cocktails.
{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed Drinks/Templates/Badges/IBAOfficial}} - for use only within sections of articles which describe one of these cocktails, but the entire article is not about the cocktail, and our infobox would be inappropriate to include.

[edit] Stubs

{{mixed-drink-stub}} - identifies articles that are very short, missing key information, or need lots of work.
- Usage: Place this tag at or near the bottom of the article.
- Replaces: {{cocktail-stub}} (which is the old name for this template), {{drink-stub}} or the generic {{stub}} tag should be removed. Leave any other stub tags alone (assuming they make sense). Removing stub tags from other WikiProjects should be avoided--at least until the article has been expanded unarguably beyond stub status.
- Related Category: Cat:Mixed drink stubs

[edit] Talk Page Templates

These templates should be placed at or near the top of the talk page of appropriate articles. User good judgment if other WikiProjects or editors have already added templates to the top of the article. This about the most logical order to use when placing the templates. If more than one WikiProject's scope applies, try to determine which scope more closely matches the topic of the article and place its banner first. If you can't decide, be polite and leave the one already tagged in the higher position. Templates warning about pending deletions or other serious or time-sensitive actions should always appear before general talk-page templates.

[edit] Warning Banners

{{cocktail-micro-talk}} - notifies readers that the article is scheduled to be integrated into other articles or lists and then turned into a redirect.
- Usage: Place this at the top of the talk page for articles that are clearly not worth keeping as stand-alone articles.
- Time: This template should remain on the article for at least one-week to give other editors time to improve the article.
- Visit the template for more information, instructions, and what you should do after using the template on an article.

[edit] Project Banners

{{WPMIX}} - identifies and categorizes articles as being under the scope of this WikiProject.
- Usage: Place this tag at or near the top of the article's talk page.
- Replaces: Replace any {{Cocktails Project}} or {{WikiProjectNotice|Cocktails}} you find with this template. Leave all other WikiProject tags alone.
- Related Category: Cat:WikiProject Mixed Drinks articles
