Welcome to Tag & Assess 2007 - the Military history WikiProject initiative to clear the backlog of articles potentially within the scope of the project, identify the articles which should be tagged {{WPMILHIST}}, and assess their current condition.

[edit] We'd appreciate your help!
A month or so back, we ran a script to list all the articles in categories related to military history. This gave us about 165,000 articles. Some of these are already tagged and assessed by the project; some are military history articles but not yet tagged and assessed; some are not military history articles at all.
Working manually through this list is far too great a task for the Military history WikiProject to undertake alone, so we're looking for volunteers to help us. This is where you come in.
What we are asking is that you to adopt a range of 500 articles and work through it, tagging and assessing. At first, it will take about a minute to check each article but, with a bit of practice, people get much faster than that. The range is broken down into bite-sized sub-sections of ten articles each, so it's easy to keep track of how you're doing.
To get going, all you need do is add your name to the Participants list below, then adopt-a-range in the Worklists and start.

As a token of our appreciation for your efforts, we will be presenting service awards and barnstars based on the number of articles you process. Roger Davies will be looking after the administration of the awards and by default will post them on your talk page at the end of the drive. If you'd like yours earlier, as you earn them, please indicate this by putting an ampersand (&) before your name in the Participants list.

Please note that the awards are cumulative. For example, tagging 2000 articles entitles you to One Stripe, Two Stripe and Three Stripe service awards plus the Tireless Contributor Barnstar. To reduce administration in this situation, unless you request otherwise, only the Three Stripes plus the Tireless Contributor Barnstar will be awarded.
Finally, to make this a bit more interesting, and to introduce an element of friendly competition, we'll be presenting bronze, silver and gold Wiki-awards to the top three editors who manage to tag and assess the most articles by December 31 2007. The Wiki-awards will be in addition to the awards accumulated by the top-ranking editors during the drive. The winners, in reverse order, were in third place Parsival74 (5,200); in second place TomStar81 (5,500) and in first place Bedford (7,600).

If you signed-up before December 31 2007, you are very welcome to continue tagging and assessing until January 31 2008. All articles you tag and assess during January will be credited fully to your tagging tally for award purposes. In the meantime, thank you for your hard work.
If you have any questions, please raise them on the Tag & Assess 2007 talk page.
Please leave your name below, in alphabetical order, during this assessment drive, together with a running total (tally). This includes the articles you have struck through and deleted from the worklists as well as those you have tagged. The running totals will be the basis for awards. To make it easier to pick up where you leave off, and to avoid edit conflicts, please "adopt a range" in the Worklist table below.
