Wikipedia:WikiProject Mesoamerica/Related
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This subsection contains notes and links for other Wikipedia projects, portals, collaborations, and so on, whose activities are likely to intersect or bear some relationship with this WikiProject. These related projects may be consulted for ideas, approached for collaborations and notified of any WP:MESO activities which might also be relevant to their own particular aims and interests. It would be beneficial to periodically monitor their activities, for example to circumvent potential differences over guidelines/standards or general approaches.
"Related WikiProjects" (ie, those which may also cover some of the general Mesoamerican subject area) can be engaged by coordination and cross-checking, to avoid duplication of effort or possible conflict on standards, etc.
"Similar WikiProjects" (ie, those which cover some of the thematic areas but not specifically the Mesoamerican region) can be consulted for standards and expertise in a particular field, and investigated for methodologies, resources and tools deployed to see if anything can be adopted.
The "Related projects listing" section immediately below appears on the Project main page, and updates to it will also be reflected there. The "Coordination and notes" section below that (not appearing on the main page) can be used to document any coordination or notification activities performed or proposed.

[edit] Coordination and notes
Any notes concerning efforts or requests to coordinate activities with related or similar WikiProjects and other communal wikipedian groups may be documented here.
[edit] 'Parent' projects
- WikiProject Pre-Columbian— now created, is the direct parent of this WP:MESO Project. It is intended to serve as an 'umbrella' forum and focal point for coordinating work being done across all of the various regions and societies of interest to pre-Columbian American studies. Any cross-regional guidelines, resources and organisational proposals can be documented there. Note, at present this project has not been defined or worked on since its initial creation.
- WikiProject Archaeology— more distantly related, but may be useful to consult for direction/advice on general archaeological themes and standards.
[edit] 'Descendant' projects
- WikiProject Aztec— a subProject formed to discuss Aztec-related articles and resources.
Other subProjects may be created, as and when the need or interest arises.
[edit] Related projects
- WikiProject Mexico— has an overlap in territory, and has already included a little discussion on some Mesoamerican topics (especially Aztec). However, that project does not address all of the Mesoamerican region, or treat the region as a whole.
- WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America— again, some overlap here, with this WikiProject covering some of the Mesoamerican peoples (albeit, with more of a focus upon the contemporary peoples, than the historical).
- WikiProject Ethnic groups— a superset of the above, again with a more contemporary focus.
- WikiProject Writing systems— some possible overlap here with respect to Mesoamerican writing systems.
