This task force is intended to cover all MU* games and hopes to improve, expand, and assist all articles under it's scope. The task force was originally created to help decide what MU* games are and are not notable as some editors expressed concern over the notability of many of the MU*-related articles.

[edit] List of MU*s under consideration

[edit] Main articles

  • MUD - badly in need of a cleanup

[edit] Notable Mu* games

These articles have sufficiently established notability per WP:N guidelines; WP:Verifiability may or may not need more attention.

[edit] MU*s in need of attention

These articles assert some form of notability, but require independent references to satisfy WP:Verifiability.

  • AVATAR (MUD) – Prod contested; link to review at TMS provided ([1]) which is possibly enough to satisfy WP:N if we can confirm reliability.
  • Accursed Lands – Cites awards from MudMagic.com and RPIMUD.com; reliability of these sites should be investigated.
  • Alter Aeon – Has review in Games for the Blind as it's only independent source.
  • Ancient Anguish – Of the references, only the mudconnector 'Mud of the Month' looks substantial; as I don't know if the reviewer is a staff member or a user, not sure if it is 'reliable' per WP:SOURCE.
  • Armageddon (MUD) – Articles in Imaginary Realities (a webzine - need to check for reliability) and review on slashdot (looks user submitted rather than staff written - again, need to check)
  • BurningMUD – Only claim to notability is a Mudconnector Mud of the Month review.
  • Clandestine MUD – Attempts to claim notability through MUD ranking site awards; these need checking for reliability.
  • DartMUD - Some references by Ralph Koster, creator of Ultima Online, claims first use of hex map structure
  • Discworld MUD - Discworld mudlib seems notable enough, the article itself doesnt cite sources. Plethoria of fansites and listings at mud directories, but no more reliable sources.
  • Dragon's Gate - Claims notability as first pay per play MUD. Now defunct.
  • Elendor - some notability in the Lord of the rings community as indicated by the links on their website [2]
  • Fazuul - the earliest Mu*.
  • FiranMUX - Only independent reference is a review at 'electricsoup.net' (never heard of it); claims to have won an 'Andy Award' (whatever that is - the reference link was broken). Rather promotional in tone, so will need cleanup regardless.
  • Genesis LPMud - claims notability for by being the original LPmud.
  • IfMUD - possible notability for hosting the XYZZY awards
  • Lusternia, Age of Ascension - Google test gives some encouraging results, should looked at for notability and references.
  • MAD (MUD) - 1984, poss. of historical interest; more references required
  • MUD2 - as a sequel to the original 1978 MUD, this is a candiate for merging with MUD; also 'MUD the game' could be split from MUD and merged with this.
  • Medievia - No independent, reliable sources and no claim of notability; however I don't want to see it included in a batch nomination as has been previously nominated for deletion.
  • MUME - link to 'award' is broken, but I have a feeling there may be several reviews for this.
  • Shattered World - Independent no references; assertion notability no of. (Although running since 1990? Might be worth checking again.) Still can't find anything other then self written or directories on google. Moved it here, because: better safe than sorry.
  • Star Wars MUSH - long running, and claims to have popularized several MU* concepts. However, currently has no independent references.
  • Swords of Chaos - long running, with rights owned by various companies; some independent references provided but nothing 'reliable'.
  • Threshold (online game) - various award, but awards are not properly sourced. I believe will be ok after cleanup.
  • WoTMUD - Personal permission by Robert Jordan, and a lot of fan refs (including a firefox addon) might make this just notable enough, if references and notability can be established in the article.
  • ZombieMUD - top20 on a mudlisting, and a MUD of the month award by a mud listing site

[edit] MU*s in desperate need of attention.

These articles have been tagged with the {{primarysources|date=<date>}} or {{references|date=<date>}} tag, and the {{notability|notability|date=<date>}} tag.

  • BatMUD – Attempts to claim notability through popularity. No independent references.
  • CrystalMUSH – No assertion of notability, no independent references.
  • Legends of Terris - No assertion of notability, no independent references.
  • Nanvaent – No assertion of notability, no independent references.
  • Necromium – No assertion of notability, no independent references.
  • Nightmare LPMud - Only assertion of notability is that its one of the oldest continuous running LPMud's, LPMud not being very notable in its own right. Now defunct.
  • OtherSpace - No claim of notability, no independent references.
  • MajorMUD - Only directory listings provided as references.
  • Materia Magica - No claim to notability (unless you count the unreferened 'widely played'), no independent reliable sources.
  • Mirkwood (MUD) - Ditto.
  • Tempora Heroica - No assertion of notability, no independent references.
  • Tempus (MUD) - No assertion of notability, no independent references.
  • RivaMUSH - No assertion of notability, no independent references.
  • Shadows of Isildur - Only has web directory listings as references; no assertion of notability.
  • Slothmud - No assertion of notability; external links are directory listings and blogs.
  • Sociopolitical Ramifications MUCK - Awesome name, but no assertion of notability and no indepedent references.
  • Star Wars Galactic Insights - No N, no V's
  • StarMUD - I used to play this and remember it very fondly, however; no independent references, no claim of notability.
