This is the LGBT studies notice board for Wikipedians interested in articles related to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender topics. This is a noticeboard for all Wikipedians interested in these issues, not only LGBT Wikipedians. This is not a discussion page, but a page to notify users of active discussions.

Contents

[edit] Current disputes

Add a description of the issue to help direct editors to the section of the article being disputed. Please keep it very brief and NPOV. Add the date, but do not sign (use five tildes instead of four: ~~~~~).

[edit] Articles with disputes (current)

  • Systematic effort underway at Pederasty and related articles to lump legitimate homosexual relationships with child abuse, as well as to represent ancient Greek pederasty in through the prism of modern CSA dogma. 22:30, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Relevant user conduct disputes (current)

[edit] Deletion discussions

Use the deletion sorting system at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Sexuality and gender, and consider watchlisting that page.

[edit] Requested articles

Use the "Social Sciences and Philosophy" section of WP:Requested Articles.

[edit] Articles needing work

Stubs can be found at Category:LGBT stubs and Category:LGBT rights activist stubs.

  • Axel and Eigil Axgil plenty of room for expansion; see source website linked from the article SP-KP 23:16, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
  • History of lesbianism needs serious attention from a knowledgeable person with good research and writing skills. It now looks like a lot of un-cited original research and unsupported POV with a generally poor organizational structure. Some have added good info, but much more needs to be done. Ande B 02:01, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
  • LGBT rights in Iran, Homosexuality in Iran(merged), and Transsexuality in Iran - first two require copyediting and sources; last two require sigificant expansion. SouthernComfort 15:44, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
  • Clothing laws by country could use some information about cross-dressing laws around the world. -- Beland 22:35, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
  • Social aspects of clothing has a new section, "Sexual orientation" in which I have attempted to describe how clothing is used to send social signals related to sexual orientation. It could use some peer review. -- Beland 22:35, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
  • Transgender I already listed the article on Wikipedia:Cleanup#April 8,2006; forgot to list it here, too. Article is a complete mess. In my opinion there should be a few cuts - this article cannot replace all the other articles in the WP that deal with transgender issues, and it sure looks like it tries at the moment, making it such a mess. -- AlexR 14:00, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
  • Lesbian and bisexual celebrities: I came across this on the New Pages page today. Is this a fork? Because I doubt a list like this hasn't been created before, but I wouldn't know where to look. --Calton | Talk 05:48, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
    • It must be a fork. I'm guessing it was a deleted page (because none of the information is sourced) but under a different name. Or maybe it's from a different site. I can't prove it, because I can't read deleted content. I can't find anything on google either. Check out the creator though. ~a (usertalkcontribs) 05:17, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Gay rights in the Isle of Man Is a stub, but contains no real information on the topic of Gay Rights. The bulk of the paragraph is refering to sexual grooming of minors (of any gender), which has nothing to do with LGBT issues, rather child sexuality/pedaphile issues. Either needs a lot of work or an Afd. --Monotonehell 13:58, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Lesbianism in erotica, while in pretty good shape, is still in need of expansion in several places, as noted on the "To Do" list at the head of Talk:Lesbianism in erotica. Notably, the article really needs material on lesbianism in erotic literature, a topic on which I'm out of my depth. Iamcuriousblue 00:16, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Homosexual agenda could do with a thorough review, as some of the text & phrasing is (to my mind) overly sympathetic to the antigay proponents of this term. --Ssbohio 04:30, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
  • External review highlights possible problems; see Talk:Peter Tatchell. -- Beland 18:53, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Top and bottom in sex and BDSM needs work. See the talk page for a TODO list. It's a merger of 9 earlier pages; I've done a fair amount to make it work well, but the BDSM part will need significant editing to be smooth. It also needs expansion; see the TODO list again for that. Thanks. --Sai Emrys ¿? 19:13, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
  • Gay bar – the overall article needs work, but what's particularly problematic is the section Gay_bar: Notable_gay_nightclubs, which is largely a list of non-notable gay clubs, mainly spam. The edit history shows frequent ads to this section, often accompanied by removal of nearby competitors. The section should also be converted from list to prose. Peter G Werner 21:44, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
  • LGBT rights in Pakistan – might need a formal assessment but more citations and images are welcome. Please help. Arun Reginald (talk · contribs) 18:33, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Pup-play has been proposed for deletion on the grounds that it lacks reliable sources. Could use some revision. Voyager640 (talk) 16:43, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Requested categories

  • Category:Queer historians
  • Category:Trans historians
  • Category:LGBT-related lists (currently LGBT-related lists are sorted into Category:Sexuality-related lists). - Gilliam 22:33, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
See Category:List-Class LGBT articles - does that work?
That is for discussion pages. There should be a lists category for the article mainspace. - Gilliam 04:40, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Please check out the "to-do-list, finding sources for them and adding them to the relevant list. We're just about half-way through, so every active member committing to checking just one article a day would wipe out this backlog in days. Please help the WikiProject by contributing.
