Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Nation pages

Much like the pages on national teams for football (soccer) pages must also exist for national ice hockey teams.

[edit] Names

In countries where ice hockey is clearly more popular than field hockey than the title should just mention hockey, and not ice hockey. Example: "American national hockey team." However if the country has a strong women's team as well, it should mention which sex the article refers to. Example: "Canadian national men's hockey team"

The Canadian national hockey team is controlled by Hockey Canada. Canada has been, by far, the most dominant hockey team in international play, especially in recent years, winning five of six Canada Cups dating back to 1972 and winning in the 2002 Winter Olympics, and the last two International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships.
