Wikipedia:WikiProject Germany/Cities

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The goal of this task force is to ensure that every municipality in Germany has a good article on Wikipedia. In the first phase, we focused on creating (stub) articles for all municipalities. Now that every German municipality has an article in Wikipedia, it's time to proceed to the next step towards good articles: adding the infoboxes {{Infobox German Location}}. This is what has to be done, if the article has no infobox (or an old one, like {{Infobox Town DE}}):

  • check the interwiki link to the German article (de:), if missing or wrong, please correct it
  • copy the infobox from German wikipedia to the English article and translate/delete German text that shows in the infobox like Gliederung as well as watch for the size of the website link which can effect the size of the infobox. A common problem is an expression error in the elevation field: in that case replace the dash in the "Höhe" entry field with a minus sign "-".
  • replace "Infobox Ort in Deutschland" with "Infobox German Location" (facultative, it's a redirect)
  • remove categories "Towns in State" and "Municipalities in State" as well as the coordinates template, because they're created by the infobox.
  • if converting the old {{Infobox Town DE}} make sure the status of the place is clear by checking the German version. If it is a town/city Art=Stadt (or type=town) needs to be set.

When you've checked all towns and municipalities in a district, please add "+IB" under its navigation bar. You can find the navbars on the subpages for the states below (e.g. /Brandenburg). If you should find an incorrect link in a navbar (or a redirect), please correct it.
