Welcome to WikiProject Futurama, a WikiProject to organize every piece of information about Futurama. As the previous maker of this page never went over the 'Coming Soon' mark, I thought I'd get it started.

[edit] What is Futurama?

Futurama was a series that first appeared on FOX television in 1999. It was effectively cancelled in 2003, after the show fell out of favor with the executives of the FOX network (who are under the sway of Rupert Murdoch), but repeats were aired on Adult Swim until 2008, culminating in the Last Futurama Marathon.Comedy Central now airs the old episodes and the straight to DVD films reformated as a new season, beginning on March 23, 2008.

[edit] Scope

We want to expand all Futurama related articles, including that of character pages and episode pages. WikiProject Futurama will attempt to cover all Futurama information included on Wikipedia. It would be great if we could make it the one stop shop for any information that people want.

[edit] Assessment

The assessment department focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's Futurama articles. While much of the work is done in conjunction with the WP:1.0 program, the article ratings are also used within the project itself to aid in recognising excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work.

Example: {{FuturamaWikiProject| class=??? | importance=???}}

The ratings are done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{FuturamaWikiProject}} template; this causes the articles to be placed in a set of categories that serves as the basis for an automatically generated worklist.

[edit] Legend

Article progress grading scheme
Featured article FA Reserved exclusively for articles that have received "Featured article" status after peer review, and meet the current criteria for featured articles.
A The article provides a well-written, reasonably clear and complete description of the topic, as described in How to write a Great Article. It includes a well-written introduction to the topic, and an appropriate series of headings to break up the article. It should have sufficient external literature references, preferably from textbooks or peer-reviewed papers rather than websites. It contain illustrations where appropriate (with no copyright problems). It should be at the stage where it meets the criteria for or is a Good article. Example: Ammonia (as of Oct 2005).
B The article is "almost there" but it may be missing one of the following: references, balance of content, or an important section. Alternatively, the English may need a comprehensive rewrite to make it flow, or it may need to be edited to follow standard English spelling and conventions. For maths articles, articles which are overly technical and fail to explain the basics would often end up here. Example: Antarctica (as of Oct 2005) is a good start but contains too many lists, and it needs more prose content & references.
Start The article has a good amount of content, but it is still weak in certain areas, and may lack a table. For example an article on Africa might cover the geography well, but be weak on history and culture. Example: Arithmetic (as of Oct 2005).
Stub The article is either a very short article or a stub that will need a lot of work to bring it to A-Class level, although there may be a significant amount of material in the article.

Need: The article's importance, regardless of its quality

Top Subject is a must-have for a print encyclopaedia
High Subject contributes a depth of knowledge
Mid Subject fills in more minor details
Low Subject is peripheral knowledge, possibly trivial

[edit] Peer review

The peer review department conducts peer reviews of Futurama-related articles on request; this helps to obtain ideas for further improvement by having contributors who may not have previously worked on particular articles examine them. Project members are invited to submit articles to the department in lieu of using the generic peer review process.
