[edit] Tasks

To-do list for Wikipedia:WikiProject Forgotten Realms:
  • List any countries that exist or once existed in Realmspace at the Geographical index of Toril.
    • Browse the Timeline of Faerûn for meaningful dates. For now, the date of creation of the various Elven empires, but there is surely much more to find. It requires a lot of time, particularly if you also look at the other timelines on the Web.
  • Create a correct template infobox, see discussion.
  • Merge stubs in Category:Forgotten Realms places.
  • Others?

[edit] Proposal for evangelism

This is a message I plan to send to major FR-related entries contributor. Anything to add or remove (plus bad grammar and so on) ?

( title ) Invitation to the Forgotten Realms project

Hi,

We are working on a Forgotten Realms Project to map Toril (mostly Faerûn, at the present). Since you contributed quite a lot on a Forgotten Realms-specific entry, we'ld like to invite you to join the project, so we could improve the “Mapping the Realms” project.

The goal is to create a sort of World Factbook for the Realms. This means:

  • A consistent content
  • Use of templates
  • Entries should be limited to “sovereign places”: states and free cities, as well a moderately-inhabited place such as the Western Heartlands.

On top of this, we also plan to cover Lost Empires, such as Pelvuria or Imaskar and, of course, Netheril

Main contributors are presently

If you know some other person who would be interested, feel free to forward the invitation!

Feel free to take a look. We hope to see you soon mapping the Realms with us!

[edit] Structure

[edit] Using the infobox

[edit] Basic instructions

  1. The textbox is a template. That is, every thing that is entered here will be duplicated everywhere.
  2. Variables must be added in the core of the article.

A picture is worth a thousand words:

Textbox

| Value that appears as the category
| {name that identifies the value}
|-
| {image}
{country}
|-
|Capital || {capital}
|-
|Government || {government}
|-
|Ruler || {ruler}
|-
|Population || {population}
|-
|Races || {races}
|-

Article

This will result in:

Forgotten Realms Country
Cormyr
Capital Suzail
Government Monarchy
Ruler Azoun Ⅴ (infant)
Population 1,360,000 (est.)
Races Humans, half-elves, elves

[edit] Formatting

I have a problem with sizing the infobox. Check out with Anauroch. The left margin is way too large but I don't know why. It is a bit better now, though

[edit] Entries in the infobox

[edit] Implemented

  • Capital
  • Government
  • Ruler
  • Population
  • Races

[edit] Proposed

  • Worship
    • comments : only for major worships. See Chondath for example

[edit] Forgotten Realms project-template

I made a template to put at the top of relevant talk pages to increase the visibility of the project, comments are welcome! Poulsen 10:00, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

To use, type Forgotten Realms project
This article is part of WikiProject Forgotten Realms, an attempt to build a comprehensive and detailed guide to the geography of Faerûn on Wikipedia. If you would like to participate, you can edit the article attached to this page, or visit the project page, where you can join the project and/or contribute to the discussion.

Pretty good but it should say "guide to the geography of Toril" instead of "guide to the geography of Faerûn". And the template should have geography in the name so that a pure FR article can use the Forgotten Realms project link. Big Mac 23:10, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sub-sections

[edit] Articles

[edit] Adopt an article

Nominative adoptions below:

[edit] Articles proposed for deletion

This section should be used to list Dungeons & Dragons articles currently being considered for deletion, not only by project members, but by all Wikipedians. This will not only bring low-quality D&D articles to our attention, but will also enable the project to be aware of and defend articles targeted by overzealous deletionists. Please post (alphabetically) both the article title and the article's entry on the Articles for deletion page.

  • Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting has been selected for merger into the main Forgotten Realms article. I don't think the person suggesting this merger understands that one article is (or should be) only about a 3e RPG book published by WotC and the other is about all Forgotten Realms products (including things like Al-Qadim or Maztica) that have nothing to do with the book. Please add your support to the Talk:Forgotten_Realms page. (As someone has said that this WikiProject is inactive, I have also reported this to the Dungeons & Dragons WikiProject, in the hope that at least one of you will be able to sort it out.) Big Mac 00:16, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Don't know if people are even paying attention, but Dove Falconhand, Qilué Veladorn‎, Dragonbait, Alustriel Silverhand‎, Wulfgar (Forgotten Realms)‎ and a slew of other D&D articles are up for deletion. Szass Tam has already been deleted. BOZ 12:38, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Requests

  • As mentioned above Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting has been selected for merger into the main Forgotten Realms article. It would help if the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting article could be edited ASAP to move the 3e information to the top, and leave only information about the 2e boxed set (also called Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting) underneath. If all other info was merged into the main FR article by this project it would support the case to retain a separate article. (As someone has said that this WikiProject is inactive, I have also reported this to the Dungeons & Dragons WikiProject, in the hope that at least one of you will be able to sort it out.) 00:16, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Work on this project is more or less stalled

Work on this project is more or less stalled. Consider contributing to forgottenrealms.wikia.com
A Perl (or whatever) script for auto-diffing FR entries on Wikipedia and the same ones on Wikia would be great.
I've moved this advert for forgottenrealms.wikia.com down here as I've searched their website and can not find a page that deals with looking after Wikipedia articles on Forgotten Realms. (I've seen recent activity in the discussion page of this WikiProject and have proposed that this demoralising call for people to abandon the Forgotten Realms WikiProject is removed from this page. Please add your comments to the discussion page.)
If you need assistance with Forgotten Realms articles and can not find it here please refer your requests to the Dungeons and Dragons WikiProject. Big Mac 23:30, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
