[edit] Articles to be expanded

[edit] Articles that could be improved with images

This one should be done. I added a couple of images, more will make it too much IMHO. In any case, there are plenty of images I have just uploaded.Look at my user page gallery and pick one if you think more pictures are needed Renmiri 13:34, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Renmiri
  • Final Fantasy IX characters, Final Fantasy X characters and Final Fantasy Tactics characters - These all refer to categories at the moment which is maybe a bit broad. Anyone fancy looking at the articles on an individual basis? >Gamemaker 21:42, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

2/2/06 - Added many, many images for both FFX2 page and FFX, FFX2 character pages. I believe adding any more images will be too much but I have them so just look at my user page for the list. Added a link to an image for each character mentioned. If you don't see a picture you need, just ask: I have both games, both official movie DVDs: Final Fantasy X DVD and Final Fantasy X-2 DVD, a fast video capture board and I'm a big fan of the work this team is doing here at Wikipedia Renmiri 04:19, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Renmiri

Absolutely not true, most beasts from FFX and FFX2 are NOT in the bestiary (see good list of the tons of monsters you are missing just for FFX here). Overall, I found the bestiary very weak. Is it the goal to have just a list with a couple of beasts per game ? Also, the low resolution pics like "mermaid" make it look very bad. (further criticism moved to the proper area) Renmiri 13:34, 7 February 2006 (UTC)REnmiri
The preceding comment referred to the fact that the images already present represent nearly every game, not nearly every monster. As it happens there's an outdated comment on the Project main page stating that the Bestiary sub-project aims to cover every monster, but that no longer reflects consensus on main WPFF direction. Wikipedia isn't a game guide, and we don't have to be exhaustive. Regarding the Mermaid pic, and those like it, the image isn't poor quality, its indicative of the game that the creature appeared in; FF hasn't always looked like FFX ;) If you have concerns over the Bestiary though, do raise them on its sub-project page or in the peer review section. >Gamemaker 11:20, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Hey there. I am almost done with loading images. There are just a couple of FFX2 characters that are missing but the pages you mention above should not be missing pictures anymore. Renmiri 20:39, 11 February 2006 (UTC)Renmiri
On a related note, I went through the trouble of documenting fair use for each picture I scanned, and even entering details from the sources 1, 2, 3, 4, the latter 3 owned by me and are the source of most of my images. All 4 pages are now just a redirect, but left in revision for a merge with the main game pages. In my view this is harmful for the claim of "fair use" considering that 90% of the images on the articles for Spira and FFX / FFX2 have been scanned from the books, I believe the books should be mentioned in a page of their own. It is NOT fair use to scan half of the book and refuse to give it prominence on the Enciclopedia IMHO. Seancdaug disagrees and has put them as a redirect. Both him and myself decided to leave it up to you guys. Renmiri 03:26, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Renmiri
What exactly are you guys looking for in terms of images ? I added one of Rikku's eyes with the characteristic spiral shaped pupil. Anything else ? Renmiri 22:30, 3 February 2006 (UTC)Renmiri
Thanks for that one, it suits the article well. I think that should do it for that article >Gamemaker 10:33, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Articles that need to be standardised

[edit] POV articles

  • Added references and rendered NPOV. Ryu Kaze 19:24, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. But it has been fixed, I think. I and another user removed some unsourced references to lesbianism from there and I added some good points about the game. Renmiri 22:07, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Renmiri

[edit] Others

[edit] Articles that could be created

  • Alexander (Final Fantasy) per Odin.
  • Bahamut (Final Fantasy) - Sufficient information in the series exists; use images from "Final Fantasy media" category; should be similar to Odin (Final Fantasy)
  • Phoenix (Final Fantasy) per Odin.
    • "Sufficient" information? Maybe. But that's not a particularly good criteria for deciding to add an article. The question is whether or not the subject matter is likely to be notable to the general public, and since no summoned monsters have ever been presented as anything more than extremely minor characters (and more often, they're not really anything more than fancy magic spells), I don't think we can justify giving more space to them than they've already been afforded at the summon magic article. I've created the articles as redirects, though. – Seancdaug 21:28, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
  • Montblanc (Final Fantasy) somewhat notable FF Tactics char that could use an article. Montblanc has recently been announced to appear in FFXII. http://www.ffxii.net/?nav=media/mag9
  • Ruby Weapon I'm not sure if there is enough on this but it might be good for an article about it. There really isn't enough. I just redirected it to the main Weapons article. ~ Hibana 02:03, August 19, 2005 (UTC)
  • Shiva (Final Fantasy) per Odin. I've fleshed out a page using the Odin article's example; now needs expanding. Gamemaker 14:03, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
  • Vana'diel. Needs expanding --Vanguard 19:01, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Articles that should be merged

Current articles Merge into Comments
Shiva (Final Fantasy)
Odin (Final Fantasy)
Summon magic (Final Fantasy) Merged Shiva >Gamemaker 15:48, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Odin was merged.--DarkEvil 23:45, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Magitek
War of the Magi
Final Fantasy VI I started the merge, but we may want to combine a few more ideas, since it is difficult to keep these concepts concise in the story section. Deckiller 12:21, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
It seems to be fine. Deckiller 18:56, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Baralai
Nooj
Gippal
Shuyin
Lenne (Final Fantasy X-2)
List of Final Fantasy X-2 characters The Shuyin article contains a lot of X-2 story info, so anything worthwhile should perhaps make its way into the main Final Fantasy X-2 article. Alternatively, what about leaving the Shuyin article in place and instead shifting some story detail in the other direction, adding a {detail|Shuyin} tag to X-2's Storyline section? >Gamemaker
If there is enough info that can be in the article about Shuyin, he deserves his article. By enough info, be certain that this is not fancruft material, but realy encyclopaedic material. Also, plot summary should be relatively short, not a whole article. I just suggested that we may discuss on the project's talk page about which characters deserve their own article.--DarkEvil 23:10, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Again, I really hesitate to frame this as a question of whether or not something can be in an article, when it should be a question of whether or not something should be in an article. But that's just me being linguistically pedantic :-). The Shuyin article is currently a mess, regardless. It doesn't need to duplicate so much of the Final Fantasy X-2 story section, and could probably be cut down to less than half its current size simply by deleting redundancies and tightening the prose. If nothing else, it should at least be divided into sections, as the current huge block of text is a little daunting. And I second DarkEvil's suggestion that we bring this up on the main project talk page, not just regarding these articles, but as a general policy issue. – Seancdaug 04:05, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Lenne has been merged. Deckiller 23:47, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Bikanel Island
Via Purifico
Zanarkand
Spira First two have been completed, so I'll take down the merge tags for them. Zanarkand still needs to be merged. Deckiller 12:30, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
All done.--DarkEvil 23:33, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Sister Ray Midgar or Shin-Ra Because the page is partly disambiguous, the portion on FFVII's Sister Ray may need to be moved and then referenced on the db page.
I agree that it should be merged, I'm just not certain in which article. Is there place for this in the main Final Fantasy VII article?--DarkEvil 05:31, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi, I'm not a "member" of the FF project, and I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to post here, but I also agree that Sister Ray be merged with another. I think Shin-Ra would make a good spot. Spencer 17:38, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
All merged. However, I had to BS some mako stuff to make everything flow, so it might need cleanup. Deckiller 03:24, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Hilde Garde Final Fantasy airships Personally, I feel that the Hilde Garde airships can be summed up in that list. While I understand that the Ragnarok and Highwind have their own articles, most of the others don't. Deckiller 18:53, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Since silence has merit, I decided to go ahead and complete the merge. I also moved Final Fantasy airships to List of Final Fantasy airships. Deckiller 22:59, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Phoenix Down List of items in Final Fantasy I merged this article, since it seems awkard to have a short article on one item. If the majority objects, feel free to revert. Deckiller 00:19, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
Halycanos
X-Death
Bartz Clauser
Reina Charlotte Tycoon
Faris Scherwitz
List of Final Fantasy V characters I merged these articles; one was recently created and had some pretty good information. Hopefully, this is signs that the List of Final Fantasy V characters will be expanding soon. Deckiller 22:05, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Merged Bartz and Reina articles >Gamemaker 14:06, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
"Merged" Faris, although all the info was redundant. Deckiller 17:28, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
The article still needs lots of expansion. I'll help as soon as I get some time free, to grab images and such. We need sections for King Tycoon, Guido, Cid and Mid, Zeza, Kelgore, Dorgan, and Gilagamesh. Also, Faris and Cara's sections need expansions and official art. Crazyswordsman 03:49, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
Yara Ma Yha Who Final Fantasy bestiary (N-Z) Merged a 2-3 sentence article about a FFXI creature. Deckiller 22:41, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Fujin (Final Fantasy VIII) List of Final Fantasy VIII characters Created recently; has no reason to be its own article, considering that it has an even longer entry in the list page. Deckiller 19:58, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
yeah definately, its just repeating information in the List article. Spencer 20:27, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
All set. Deckiller 21:33, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
Blood Sword Final Fantasy II A six sentence article created about the Blood Sword from Final Fantasy II; this can be touched upon in the gameplay section (I.E. "Some weapons, such as the Blood Sword, can help a player beat the game easily). Deckiller 21:15, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
I've merged into a newly created Trivia section in the FFII article. ~ Hibana 22:25, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Couerl Final Fantasy bestiary (A-E) A lot of the information in this article is already covered in the bestiary. Deckiller 23:09, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Never mind. Deckiller 23:11, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Linkshell Final Fantasy XI Personally, I feel that a communication device from FFXI doesn't deserve its own article, but it can be highlighted in the gameplay section. Deckiller 23:15, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
I went ahead and merged it into People and Politics per Chanlord. Deckiller 23:21, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Buster Sword
Catclaw
Gunblade
Masamune (video game weapon)
Ragnarok (Final Fantasy)
Ultima Weapon
List of Final Fantasy weapons Being a mergist, I was wondering if we could create a list of final fantasy weapons and merge the Buster Sword, Gunblade, Catclaw, and other articles. It would also allow us to split the Ultima weapon article into Weapon and the actual sword. Moreover, it would give an opportunity to expand on other weapons that would normally only get 1-2 lines. Deckiller 23:27, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
If you guys agree, I'll go ahead and create it. Deckiller 23:29, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Sounds good to me -- čĥàñľōŕď 23:41, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
If nobody objects, I will merge tomorrow afternoon. Deckiller 23:22, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
I shall mege in 30 minutes (4:00 PM EST). Deckiller 20:28, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
Ragnarok (Final Fantasy) Weapon list (see above)
Sora (Kingdom Hearts)
List of Final Fantasy airships
Summon magic (Final Fantasy)
If we are to merge the weapons into a list, we're going to have to split the Ragnarok (and Masamune) information into its respective locations. Deckiller 01:58, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
I will merge tomorrow afternoon if nobody objects. Deckiller 23:22, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Final warning; merge will take place in 30 minutes (4:00 PM EST). Deckiller 20:28, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
Highwind List of Final Fantasy airships The Highwind article doesn't have much more information than the entry in the list, so I figure it should be merged. Deckiller 01:58, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
This has met with some disagreement, so the merge will be put off until a discussion is completed. Deckiller 23:22, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Current discussion is 2 pro merge, 1 against merge. I will merge Highwind in exactly twenty-four (24) hours unless another objection/statement is issued. Deckiller 00:17, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Brother (Final Fantasy)
Braska
List of Final Fantasy X characters and List of Final Fantasy X-2 characters Personally, there's some good info here, but I feel that it can be incorporated into the X and X-2 lists, especially considering the fact that the X list has some lengthy sections. Braska could also be merged into the list. Good information, but minor characters. Deckiller 03:23, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
If nobody disputes within the next 24 hours, I will go ahead and merge these articles tomorrow night. Deckiller 23:22, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Braska has been merged, but Brother has extensive information related to FFX-2, and I don't want to merge that one until further discussion is achieved. If there is silence through January 27, I will go ahead. Deckiller 21:56, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
The Lost Cities of Spira (Final Fantasy X, X2) Spira (Final Fantasy) A lot of this seems to be GameFAQs material, and the remainder are pretty much just one- or two-sentence paragraphs. – Seancdaug 02:13, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
Al Bhed
Sphere Grid
Fayth
Yevon
Sin
Pyreflies
Spira (Final Fantasy)
Final Fantasy X
Mythology of Final Fantasy X
By consensus it was decided that the Final Fantasy X: Original Soundtrack and the Blitzball page stay as independent pages and all the others have been merged to existing pages or to the newly created Mythology of Final Fantasy X. See Talk:Final_Fantasy_X#Merges for details Renmiri 18:57, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Hymn of the Fayth
Machina (Final Fantasy X)
The end of Yevon and the Birth of New Yevon
Mythology of Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X: Original Soundtrack
Does anyone see any reason why Hymn of the Fayth, The end of Yevon and the Birth of New Yevon and Machina (Final Fantasy X) can't be to the Mythology of Final Fantasy X page ? And how about Suteki Da Ne ? Shouldn't it be merged to the Soudtrack page ? Renmiri 19:10, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
We decided to leave Suteki Da Ne independent and merge all the rest to the Mythology page Renmiri 18:32, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
1000 Words (Final Fantasy X-2) Final Fantasy X-2 This page should be either expanded or merged with FFX2 Renmiri 18:52, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
