[edit] The Simpsons Movie

This article is a GA, and was rated A class a while back. I've added in all of the useful DVD information so I now think its almost ready for an FAC. So any comments of any kind are welcome. Gran2 08:34, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

  • I would prefer to lose the quotebox in the "Themes" section, and add instead an image of Lisa and Colin against apple trees. The Irritating Truth joke is included in "Cultural references". Alientraveller (talk) 12:06, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
    • Yeah it does kind of repeat itself, I'll upload an image of Lisa and Colin infront of the apple tree instead. Gran2 12:57, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
    • Excellent. The article has a very comfortable mix of non-free and free images, so feel free to add critical commentary images where you see fit. I mean, maybe that animatic image doesn't contribute to how Groening came up with the plot. But I'd sure love to see where that Orc is hiding. Alientraveller (talk) 13:47, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
      • I think I'll axe the pig crap image because, to be fair, it doesn't really add that much. But yeah, the cultural references section could use an image. I've got one of the Disney animals and one of the Happy Feet reference, and I could get one of the Orc later, so I'll decide which one of the three would be better. • How about the Salvador Dali-esque epiphany of Homer? Relevant and a big plot point. Alientraveller (talk) 14:27, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
  • Article looks great! Very well-rounded content. I'd like to encourage a copy-editing of the article, though. I'll see what I can do myself. Otherwise, here are some suggestions:
  • Maybe it's the size of my monitor but the film infobox and the quotebox from Groening conflict to create a white square below the infobox. Any way to address this, such as moving the quotebox or possibly trimming down on the "Written by" or "Starring" attributes in the infobox?
  • There are some instances where punctuation needs to be fixed where something is quoted, per WP:PUNC. For example, The same went for Brad Bird who "entertained fantasies of asking if [he] could work on the movie," but did not... would be better written as The same went for Brad Bird who "entertained fantasies of asking if [he] could work on the movie", but did not...
  • Any way to expand the caption of the image of the director? It seems slightly bland and could use a little extra detail, perhaps.
  • The "Box office performance" section needs to state its specific release date so the section can stand alone without needing to refer to the infobox (which is pretty far up the article at that point). Perhaps mention the number of theaters in which the film opened, too?
  • For "Critical reception", I think you should disclose the number of reviewers at Rotten Tomatoes at Metacritic that ultimately provided these ratings -- gives an idea of the scale.
  • In the references, I notice that a lot of references use the template Cite web rather than Cite news. I think that they should be converted to Cite news because Cite web is for items that don't have a specific date of posting attached -- in this case, Rotten Tomatoes, Box Office Mojo, Metacritic, etc. References like iF Magazine, Bullz-Eye.com, Reuters, Slant Magazine, Catholic Online, etc. should be converted to Cite news.
  • I'm not familiar with Wikinews, but does the template link to details that may not be in the article? It just seems to be a template that takes up more space than it has to.
  • The categories seem slightly sparse to me -- has an effort been made to ensure that it covers everything about the film?
  • All in all, great article. Great use of images, too! This will help provide an example of how to implement non-free images in the future. I think that there are a few fixes needed per WP:PUNC, and I also think a general copy-editing may be needed. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 18:37, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the review and some great comments! I'll get to work and see what I can do to fix up your points. Gran2 18:48, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
