Wanted for a MoS-violation they didn't commit...
In 2008, an ace editing unit was sent to ANI by a rogue admin for a MoS-violation they didn't commit. These editors promptly assumed good faith and escaped via the IRC. Today, still wanted by The Cabal, they survive as champions of content quality.

If you have a treasured article, if no one else can help, and if you can find reliable sources, then maybe you can hire...

...The FA-Team.[citation needed]

Contents

Okay, that was the draw, but this team has a serious purpose too: improving an article to FA standard is not easy, and there are plenty of obstacles and not enough support. The purpose of the FA-Team is to link and coordinate editors who want to help overcome the obstacles and provide support to all those who want to write great articles. We also believe that contributing to Wikipedia should be fun, and that is the spirit in which the team has been created.

There are many things the FA-Team can help with. What we can't do, however, is add substantial content or find references: as suggested above, editors who would like FA-Team help need to have access to reliable sources and use them to create and improve article content.

If you have an article you think would make a good FA-team Mission, propose it here.

[edit] Team members and specialities

  • Acer — Being the first on the list despite other members shameless attempt to make it to the top.
  • Awadewit — formatting of bibliographies and footnotes (MLA, Chicago, APA, etc.); WP:MOS (I know a great deal, but not all, of it); article organization; grammar; copy editing.[1]
  • BuddingJournalist — References and research (I have the privilege of easy access to one of the largest library systems in the world, so ping away if you need a source!), some MOS, general formatting, some copyediting (although many of those listed here are far more talented than me at this!).
  • Casliber — anything biological..(snigger), layout, copyediting, greek & latin translation etc.
  • Ceoil — Content and ref/biblo formatting, although me and article stucture do not go well together.
  • Cam — Copyediting,[1][2] ref formatting and (to a lesser extent) finding. I have also got quite a bit of experience with reviewing GA-Articles.[3]
  • Dank55 — good at alphabetizing lists of names so that I can appear near the top. Also a fair whistler. Good with style guidelines, suck at article reviewing.
  • Dwaipayan — reference formatting, some MoS.
  • EyeSerene — article editing and copyediting[1] (including images and related copyrights,[4] tables, markup and the Manual of Style); article assessment (particularly Good articles[3])
  • Gary King — Helping out with whatever needs help
  • Geometry guy — templates, lead section, occasional imperfect copy-editing,[1] formatting citations and references, image copyright and fair use issues, and even dashes.[5]
  • GrahamColm — Plain English.[6][7][8]
  • jbmurray — client turned provider ;). Willing to help out generally, above all with articles in the Humanities. Once library fines are paid, may even help with sources. --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 03:07, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Kakofonous — I'll fix any dash you could possibly want.
  • Karanacs — formatting citations and references, most Manual of Style stuff (except dashes[2]), article layout, biographies.
  • (Ling.Nut)[9]
  • (Marskell)
  • Mike Christie — copyediting, some MOS, formatting.
  • Mkdwtalk — FA nominations, city FA, formatting, and WikiProjects.
  • Mm40 ( Second join) CE and maybe MoS. I'm also good at googling.
  • Nishkid64 — references, formatting, MoS fixes, copyediting?
  • Nousernamesleft — I[10] can spot a MOS mistake from up to fifty yards. Just ask. I also have access to quite a lot of reference material.[11]
  • OhanaUnited — references, weasel words, and jargon words.
  • RC-0722pilot, typo's, layout, copyediting, style.[12]
  • Sasquatch — All the normal copyedit stuff, science topics and engineering topics, scouring the academic databases for sources, I tend to be bored and have lots of free time on my hands.
  • Scartol — copyediting, formatting, layout, HTML, CSS, EPMD, and basic templates.
  • Sceptre — references, some copyediting.
  • Tony — serves Devonshire tea.
  • Wrad — access to large amounts of reference material; experienced in working with and organizing collaborations of editors.

(Please add/remove your name to/from the list if you do/don't support the goals of the FA-Team. It is also helpful to know how actively you can contribute, and what your areas of expertise are. Editors who support the FA-Team goals, but are unable to be actively involved for now, are welcome to add their username in brackets.)

[edit] Footnotes

  1. ^ a b c d Do you know the complexities of spelling "copy edit"? :)
  2. ^ a b Be aware that if you ask me about dashes I may run away screaming.
  3. ^ a b The author is aware of the logical inconsistency involved here, and can probably justify mentioning GA on the FA-Team page. He just doesn't feel like doing it now.
  4. ^ Well, I know where Elcobbola's talk page is...
  5. ^ Caveat: as seen above, I like spaced em-dashes; they have style and sophistication — panache even. Unfortunately, as of 3/2/2008 11:59:59 UTC, the manual of style barely tolerates them, which means that by this afternoon they could be banned. Or possibly strongly encouraged. Update 21/4/2008: in fact spaced em-dashes seem to be banned now, but what a beautiful array of dashes there are on the FA-Team page!
  6. ^ Sir Ernest Gowers, The Complete Plain Words, H. M. Stationary Office, UK, 1954.
  7. ^ Fowler's Modern English Usage, Second edition, Edited by Sir Ernest Gowers, Oxford University Press, 1968.
  8. ^ Giant Superman Annual (A Super Collection of Untold Stories and Secret Origins, DC National Comics, (Approved by the Comics Code Authority), National Periodical Publications,Inc., USA, 1963
  9. ^ Note: Inactive. Allegedly kidnapped by The Cabal and replaced by a bot that makes random edits to various topics, frequently related to Asia and contiaing containing typos which are corrected in subsequent edits. The bot then resurfaces on random talk pages claiming to be working on a dissertation. No one has yet noticed the difference.
  10. ^ Or at least the automated script that I use
  11. ^ I'll be friendly as long as you don't ask me to copyedit anything.
  12. ^ I may not be available 24-7 due to serving time at a mental hospital.
