Wikipedia:WikiProject Essay Categorization and/or Classification

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to WikiProject Essay Categorization and/or Classification! The goal of this project is twofold: (1) Put all Wikipedia essays into suitable categories, and (2) possibly classify them (e.g. stub-class, B-class, A-class, etc.) We might even have featured essays at some point, and a "Today's Featured Essay" or "This Week's Featured Essay" item which would appear on some page, perhaps on meta, or perhaps here.

The categorization of essays is important so that users who come up with an interesting idea for an essay can more easily check to see what has been written on that subject. We will be seeking to classify essays in the Wikipedia namespace and in Userspace.

You are welcome to sign up.

[edit] To do

  • Come up with logical schemes of categorizing the remaining articles and re-categorizing the existing ones, to the extent necessary.
  • Figure out, what are these other thingies, such as Category:Wikipedia fauna? Do those sub-items count as essays? Or are they outside of our purview? Should we expand our scope to encompass the much more ambitious goal of categorizing and/or classifying all items in the Wikipedia namespace?
