More information is provided here for those interested. Two different templates are used on the citation pages:

Cite serial puts the serial title in italics, and the episode title in quotation marks. It should be used when citing a serial from the classic series as a whole, or an individual episode from a serial. For example:

Title Citation Appears as
Revelation of the Daleks Revelation of the Daleks. Writer Anthony Coburn, Director Waris Hussein, Producers Verity Lambert, Mervyn Pinfield. Doctor Who. BBC, London. 1963-11-30.

Cite episode puts the episode title in quotation marks. It should be used when citing episodes of the revived series. For example:

Title Citation Appears as
"The Idiot's Lantern" "The Idiot's Lantern". Writer Mark Gatiss, Director Euros Lyn, Producer Phil Collinson. Doctor Who. BBC. BBC One, Cardiff. 2006-05-27.

Cite serial contains the optional parameter "serialllink". Cite episode contains the optional parameter "episodelink". These parameters may be used in place of wikilinking the parameter "title".

Both templates contain the optional parameter "serieslink", which may be used in place of wikilinking the parameter "series".

Both templates contain the optional parameter "minutes", which may be used when referencing a specific moment from the episode.

Individual episodes and serials may have unique issues - these are described in the individual listings.
