This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Albums and songs. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting.

You can help maintain the list on this page:

  • To add a new AfD discussion (once it has already been opened on WP:AFD):
  • Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  • You can also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Albums and songs}}<small>—~~~~</small> to it, which will inform users that it has been listed here.
  • There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
  • Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
  • You can also add and remove links to other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Albums and songs.

Please note that adding an AfD to, or removing it from, this page does not add it to, or remove it from, the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page, before adding it to this page.

For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Rollin' with the Flow (album) (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View AfD)

No reliable sources for this album. Album won't be released for a while yet, and given that the second single hasn't charted, I have a feeling it will most likely be delayed further. All I'm finding is trivial mentions. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 00:57, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

*Userfy back to the creator's page until such time as more WP:RS come about and the release date is upon us. I'm finding lots on the fact the album exists and none what so ever on the "charting" single.  Esradekan Gibb  "Talk" 03:07, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Keep, if properly sourced - this blog seems to indicate that a degree of controversy has surrounded this release. If proper sources can be found that show this (the blog quotes someone mentioning Wal-Mart and Target although doesn't go into detail) this could be used to assert some notability. -- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 10:32, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

If it is, as the blog I mentioned above seems to imply, a controversial release, that should confer some notability, yes? Dusty Smiles and Heartbreak Cures (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View AfD)

Album isn't the subject of any reliable sources. While I could find reviews and sources for her 2007 album Too Far Gone, there doesn't seem to be anything to say about this one. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 22:57, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Gotta go with a delete, while I worked in a country music radio station and I know about this group, I have to remain unbiased and I performed a news search on google and found nothing. Just going with a general search, almost 600 hits, but most are lyrics to the album. Non notable I'm afraid. Dusticomplain/compliment 23:02, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Mixtape: Non-notable per WP:MUSIC. Mdsummermsw (talk) 13:01, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Delete WP:MUSIC.  Esradekan Gibb  "Talk" 13:26, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Delete unless sources are added to demonstrate that this is more than your "usual" mixtape. I {{prod}}ded an earlier version of this last week, and the rationale there ("Non-notable unreleased mixtape. I can't see any way this will ever be expandable to fit WP:N.") currently still stands. iridescent 14:16, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep an entire article on Entertainment Weekly's website was dedicated to this mixtape. Thats more than "trivial coverage". Not to mention Julia Louis-Dreyfuss appears on this. Yes its slim, but its only been released for a week, I believe this nomination is premature.  ALKIVAR 02:19, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Delete despite the EW article. We can all speculate that additional articles may exist in the future, but the time for an article is not until they actually do. I don't think one article, even in EW, is enough to cement notability for a mix tape that will supposedly be released soon. Erechtheus (talk) 04:20, 9 June 2008 (UTC) Weak keep. In spite of WP:NOT#NEWS and WP:CRYSTAL, now that it is clear we have coverage in more than EW, this probably has a place here. Erechtheus (talk) 22:32, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep clearly notable. This whole nomination is misguided; even if this did not deserve a stand-alone article, the content would need to be merged into the artist page. Chubbles (talk) 15:25, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment - I've just restored the AfD tag to the article for the second time [2][3]. Removing the AfD tag will not resolve the issue. Discussing it here will. Thanks. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 16:12, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep obviously notable, there's referrences to huge media outlets like Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly, as well as smaller (but very notable) independent sources like URB and The Fader. Not to mention notable actress Julia Louis Dreyfuss appeared on the album. This article is obviously many times more notable than most albums, yet alone "mixtapes". Just because wikipedians are ignorant of the obvious notability of this article doesn't change the fact that it is notable. Completely agree with ALKIVAR that this nomination was premature. So far the only objections have been from Erechtheus, claiming we need more sources, which we now do, and Iridescent, who said the same thing. But now we have more and more notable sources than would ever be needed to pass notability. All objections have been met; the article should be taken off of AfD. PyroGamer (talk) 16:23, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Comment even Wired has run an article on this mixtape: http://blog.wired.com/music/2008/05/interview-rappe.html as did the Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/26/AR2008052601752.html?hpid=topnews I think we've clearly passed the bar for notability... time to close this.  ALKIVAR 23:50, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Audience of One

Audience of One (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View AfD)

nn high school band of a current indie musician (Anthony Green). The article freely admits the band went nowhere, and the notability policy states that notability is not inherited - Green is notable as part of and because of his band Circa Survive (and that's questionable, IMO, but not up for debate here), not as a solo artist past or present. Unsourced article, prod removed on this and the album by an IP as its only two edits. MSJapan (talk) 16:52, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

This is all speculations and conjecture, and even those are not cited. Also, wp:crystal -- Mblumber (talk) 13:40, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Delete I agree, it's just far too much unsourced speculation Ged UK (talk) 13:59, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

how would you like me to source and reference it? I manage all of Toyah's official webspaces... and prepare copy for them all. Please refer to www.toyahwillcox.com for substanitation. CA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Decaytreasure (talkcontribs) 14:12, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

What is needed are independent sources. Since you are webmaster of the only source cited in the article, the article is currently original research. Independent coverage is needed to demonstrate the verifiability and notability of the subject. —C.Fred (talk) 14:47, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Delete - As it stands right now. However, with the addition of reliable sources, (that is, independent, third-party sources), this article would be vastly improved. At the moment, a violation of WP:CRYSTAL. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tnxman307 (talkcontribs) 14:34, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Delete with permissive recreation. The article fails the verifiability guideline. There are no secondary reliable sources cited. (Toyah's website is a primary source.) Further, if the original editor is the webmaster of the Toyah website, then this strays into the realm of conflict of interest and original research. The article is not written as a press vehicle, but nor should it rely solely on contributions from the artist's press handlers. —C.Fred (talk) 14:41, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Edited my !vote: at such time as reliable independent sources on the album are available (e.g., release date, track list, multiple reviews in major magazines), the article may be recreated without need for a deletion review. —C.Fred (talk) 16:53, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Delete then Redirect to the artist. We should probably make a "nth studio album" redirect for every musician popular with the teeny-boppers. Fee Fi Foe Fum (talk) 23:53, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep. Yeah - there seem to be plenty of secondary sources confirming the album out there on the internets. There's certainly no WP:CRYSTAL in terms of the fact that there will be an album of this title, though (hell, even The Telegraph]'s mentioned it! The article does need any speculation trimmed and references added to the rest, though (perhaps someone who - unlike me - has broadband, can find something on this BBC interview]?) Oh, and since when has Toyah been "a musician popular with the teeny-boppers"? Fee Fi, you need to get out more! Grutness...wha? 02:14, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
The BBC interview seemed to be more about Pantomime and Christmas lights and Hell's Angels doing stage security. I didn't hear any discussion of the new album(s). —C.Fred (talk) 17:00, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

I added an external link (to telegraph online) to substantiate the release and title of the album as opposed to merely inlcuding an inappropriate external link. I cannot do right from wrong!! It would help to avoid multiple edit conflicts if you remember to sign your posts. --Rodhullandemu 16:38, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep Toyah Willcox is a notable artist and therefore this album, when it appears, will be notable per WP:MUSIC. Sure, the article should have the {{future-album}} tag but it appears that WP:RS are available for it already and coverage will increase. And, being in my mid-50s, no way am I a "teenybopper", nor was I ever. --Rodhullandemu 16:38, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm not opposed to recreation of the article when sources are available. Right now, all that's been independently verified is that the album is scheduled to be released later this year. Incidentally, I just gave this album the Amazon test, and the only thing listed for pre-order right now is Good Morning Universe - The Very Best Of Toyah, scheduled for release on 30 June. —C.Fred (talk) 16:46, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Further, it seems to fail WP:MUSIC right now: "Articles and information about albums with confirmed release dates in the near future must be confirmed by reliable sources and should use the {{future-album}} tag." (emphasis added) The article does not mention any release date yet. —C.Fred (talk) 16:50, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

DecayTreasure: Well here in lies an issue which needs to be thought of by wikipedia. Putting osmething in amazon and it not being scheduled release is not the be al and end all. artists are now using different methods of distribution and ways of releasing music... many of which don't include standard record shops or online vendors. (download, magazine/newspaper giveaways, PWYC (pay what you can). There's currently no confirmation of formats for the album release. Just because Amazon doesn't provide a listing doesn't mean that something isn't going to be released or has been released. I know that in time proof will appear which vindicates the listing.. I guess its just hanging on til then. CA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Decaytreasure (talkcontribs) 19:09, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Real Gone (Billy Ray Cyrus song) (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View AfD)

Nothing but primary sources and rumors. Song was just released last week; hasn't charted, et cetera. The Sheryl Crow version doesn't have a page either and doesn't seem notable enough either. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 01:22, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Forgive me if I'm not doing things right as I'm new here. However, I do not see why this article merits deletion for two reasons. First, given that No Regret Life has separate articles for their second and third albums, I do not see why their first cannot. Second, No Regret Life has performed an ending theme for the popular anime Naruto, which satisfies section 10 of WP:MUSIC. As for sources, I do not see the need to cite the album itself as a source. I am open to suggestions on how to improve this article. - Aurum auriga —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aurum auriga (talkcontribs) 04:22, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Section ten of WP:MUSIC reads, "But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article." Yes, the band's other two albums have articles, but they haven't been around long and shouldn't be here--they probably just got overlooked. I would put any information relevant to this album in No Regret Life. Fleetflame 04:27, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
In the case that the separate articles on the other two albums are to be questioned as well, then I would agree on the deletion. The only reason I created the article in the first place was because of the existence of the other articles, so if you say that they shouldn't exist in the first place I see no reason for my article to remain as is. I would be more than willing to incorporate the content in the separate articles on the main one. - Aurum Auriga —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aurum auriga (talkcontribs) 04:37, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
I've merged the other two album articles into No Regret Life. Fleetflame 00:39, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Energy (Keri Hilson song)

Energy (Keri Hilson song) (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View AfD)

Contested redirect of non-notable song, per WP:MUSIC#SONGS. Mdsummermsw (talk) 12:51, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Delete no chartage, no WP:RS, fails WP:MUSIC. I was going to say redirect back to the album, but as TPH has pointed out in previous discussions, very, very few people are going to type in that exact phrasing as a search term.  Esradekan Gibb  "Talk" 23:55, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment - I have just restored the AfD to the article. It was down for 2 days. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 18:45, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment - This page should not be deleted because, it is a legitimate single from an artist that is set to be extremely popular, she has been featured in many popular urban magazines & websites & is hotly tipped to be the 'next big thing'. The track is already available for download on Amazon.com & is doing well. I think this article is relevant & is worthy of remaining on Wiki. Maybe the situation should be reviewed at a later date? - Markieboy (talk)
  • Comment - If the article is deleted, it isn't irreversable if the song later becomes notable. As it is, there is very little actual information in the article and none that can't be easily found to re-create the article, if appropriate, at a later date. That said, that the song has been released as a single or that the artist is notable (or expected to be very popular, etc.) does not mean the song is currently notable. Please see a detailed explanation of what (typically) is considered evidence of notability at WP:MUSIC#SONGS. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 19:48, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Keep The general precedent is that when an artist is notable (passing WP:MUSIC), their singles generally get articles too. I don't see any reason why this particular single would be some sort of exception. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 16:53, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
    • Comment - I have seen nothing to indicate this precedent. Albums by notable artists are notable, as detailed in WP:MUSIC#ALBUMS: "In general, if the musician or ensemble that recorded an album is considered notable, then officially released albums may have sufficient notability to have individual articles on Wikipedia." But songs are another story: "Most songs do not merit an article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for a prominent album or for the artist who wrote or prominently performed the song." WP:MUSIC#SONGS (Note that it's redirecting songs to the articles on notable artists or albums.) If the precedent is otherwise, the consensus should reflect it. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 20:23, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Good Things

Good Things (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) (delete) – (View AfD)

Non-notable song, didn't chart and wasn't covered in any reliable sources. Another one of Keri's songs was a contested redirect. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 12:54, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Redirect back to Rich Boy (album). The name is simple enough to be a viable search term. Even though the WP:MUSIC guideline says a song is probable notable to because of it charting, we're still missing "enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article".  Esradekan Gibb  "Talk" 00:03, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Comment: I don't care if it's deleted or not, but if it is, it should be redirected to Good Thing. The title of the page for this song should have been Good Things (song) from the start. If it's kept, this title change should occur.--Hraefen Talk 22:17, 6 June 2008 (UTC) .

  • Delete and recreate with redirect per Hraefen. NN. Comment: The "charted" standard is too loose and needs to be overhauled. When it was developed, it was apparently without due consideration of how many charts there are, and how little they actually mean. J293339 (talk) 23:25, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Keep The film also meets the following principles of WP:MOVIE:

    • General principles
      • The film has received a major award for excellence in some aspect of film making.

It was awarded the Badil Al-Awda award, a very important and respectable organization and Award.

      • The film was selected for preservation in a national archive.

The film was preserved in the Palestinian national archive and Badil Archive after receiving the Al-Awda Award. and if I am not mistaken it was preserved in the Aljazera archive after receiving the Al-Awda Award, and according to Badil website was shown in many Arab TV stations, that means a copy will be preserved in there archive .

Wikipedia will not publicize the documentary; it just gives information about it as it gives information about other Israeli films and documentaries that no one heard about or received any awards. Anyway TV stations will not search for films in Wikipedia, neither people interested in the films. Their source will be imdb or all movies. So you have no excuses now пﮟოьεԻ 57.
