The {{WikiProject Dance}} template or banner is added to article talk pages to add the article to WikiProject Dance. The project banner template should be added to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. Usage of the template does not require any additional parameters, however it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner.
Example usage:
- {{WikiProject Dance}} (to add an article to WikiProject Dance)
- {{WikiProject Dance|Ballet=yes}} (to also add an article to WikiProject Ballet)
Example usage using parameters:
- {{WikiProject Dance|class=Stub}} (to assess an article as a Stub)
- {{WikiProject Dance|importance=?}} (to assess an importance rating to an article)
- {{WikiProject Dance|importance=?|Ballet=yes|Ballet-importance=?}} (to assess dance & ballet importance)
It is also possible to use multiple parameters,
Example usage:
- {{WikiProject Dance|Ballet=yes|class=Stub|importance=Mid|attention=yes|Ballet-importance=high}}
- General parameters
- class – a rating of the article's quality; see the assessment department for more details.
- importance – a rating of the article's importance; see the assessment department for more details.
- portal – if the article is used in the featured article queue of the Dance Portal, the subpage number of its entry.
- attention – "yes" if the article requires immediate attention; this should be used sparingly.
- needs-infobox: Answer yes if the article lacks an infobox, otherwise remove this line.
- nested – "yes" if this template is to be used within {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} or {{WikiProjectBanners}}
- small – "yes" enables the template to generate a smaller, right-aligned message box.
- auto: This parameter is for the use of bots. It calls the {{stubclass}} template.
Wikiproject specific parameters
- Ballet – "yes" if the article is supported by WikiProject Ballet
- Ballet-importance – allows the importance of the article to WikiProject Ballet to be assessed separately to WikiProject Dance.
To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template.

where class is chosen from this assessment scale, and importance is the importance within dance (within ballet) according to this scale. Comments that explain the rating may be added by clicking on the link within the template; other comments and questions belong on the Talk page of the article itself.
