Wikipedia:WikiProject Computing/Strategy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
We should have a few strategies in place:
Phase 1: Categorisation and structure
- We have a list of articles at Wikipedia:Free On-line Dictionary of Computing/symbols - B that should give us plenty of articles to work on to help tighten up our structure. We need to make sure that our structure is not missing any fields on computing. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Computers#Structure.
- There is also a category of computer stubs: see Category:Computer stubs. There are also sub-categories in this.
- Another source of articles is at Category:Computing. This may also help us get our structure.
Phase 2: Create subpages of areas
- We should create subpages from the main Wikiproject for each of the areas we choose so we can work out structure, etc.
- Each subpage should have its own categorisation in phases, in much the same way we have here.
Phase 3: Determine sources of information
Phase 4: Create templates
- There is already a stub template Template:Compu-stub.
- Info-box templates should be created for each of the areas we choose
- Progress boxes might be helpful
Phase 5: Create Wikipedia:Computing collaboration of the week and find an administrator
Phase 6: Get cracking on researching and writing about computers!
In all our work, we should recruit new people who have knowledge of computers to help us create, fact check, proof read, grammar check, etc all our work. We should always remain courteous to newbies and give out lots of encouragement to those who start helping us! Hint: Banstars are cool. Maybe we could make our own reward? Give them to excellent contributors! - Ta bu shi da yu 13:55, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
