[edit] Proposal

Rename the "Children's literature" categories to "Children's and young adult literature" categories.

Pros:

  • It's difficult to draw a clear line between the two genres.
  • Any attempt to draw such a line will involve a duplicated set of categories, and many many books will appear in both.
  • Any attempt to draw such a line will result in fruitless POV discussions of appropriateness, author intent, pedagogical use, and definitions of "child" vs "young adult"
  • It will make the categories clear to everyone in purpose

Cons:

  • Long category names
  • Many cats to rename (all the "Children's writers by nationality" cats)

  • Abstain from vote. (I don't like the idea of lumping these usually very different and easily distinguishable categories together just because of some overlap at the edges, but I also don't have any better suggestion. I'm just going to sit in the corner and watch.) Tem2 16:47, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
  • Rename it. I think it is a good idea. maybe we should rename the porject as well. Or we could start another YA literature project. KGV 09:19, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
