Wikipedia:WikiProject Cats/Peer review
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The peer review department of the Cats WikiProject conducts peer review of articles on request. The primary objective is to encourage better articles by having contributors who may not have worked on articles to examine them and provide ideas for further improvement.
The peer review process is highly flexible and can deal with articles of any quality. The process is intended to make marginal and good quality articles to excellent, encyclopedic ones. However, use of a peer review for articles assessed below the Cat WikiProject's B-Class may not be a good use of reviewer's time.
Editors with article requests involving significant policy concerns or edit wars should use Wikipedia:Third opinion, Wikipedia:Requests for comment, and/or the Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents for others.) before a peer review.
All reviews are conducted by fellow editors—usually members of the Cats WikiProject. While there is a general intent to expand this process to allow for review by subject experts, the preparations for this are not yet complete. Please consider reviewing someone else's article too, if you request yours :-)

Everyone is encouraged to comment on any request listed here. To comment on an article, please add a new section (using ==== [[User:Your name|Your name]] ====

[edit] Odd-eyed cat
I've recently written this article about odd-eyed cats and I would like to know what information needs to be added and how it can be improved. Thanks. --Candy-Panda 10:37, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- You mention that they are popular among the Japanese, but that is the only cultural reaction you have. Is there any folklore in any countries about odd-eyed cats? Goldfritha 02:51, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

- Excellent idea! I've now added a "cultural reactions and folklore" section. --Candy-Panda 04:32, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

At a first glance:
- Cool concept, interesting. I added your intitial fact to the Did You Know nominations for the date of creation, Feb. 3. You'll have to cite that fact quickly as the article can only be 5 days old or less to be featured on DYK.
- Clean up the references section, check Wikipedia:Citing sources and these templates.
- Also may want to look at Wikipedia:Reliable sources.
My more thorough edit, changes, adds and removals (all of which are reversible per user discrimination):
- Add fact tag where applicable
- Inserted hidden comment(s) looking for more detail.
- Minor rewording of caption.
- Minor word removal, ex:perfectly contradicted by a stat right after it.
- Other minor copy editing details.
If interested I have an article up for peer review here. Hope that helps.A mcmurray 07:05, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Auroranorth
- I do not think you need so many pictures of odd-eyed cats. This clutters up the article and makes it look unprofessional, in my opinion.
- The lead section needs improvement. I would suggest keeping the current information but then going on further 'The condition is caused by a genetic disorder. Turkey considers this type of cat to be a national treasure,' or something to that effect.
- The external links section needs capitalisation and the wikifying has not been done correctly.
- The kittens section could be merged with the cause section.
Thanks for your interest in developing good articles.
You may like to look at the Good Article criteria and the Featured Article criteria if you wish to go further with this article. You could also use Manx (cat) as an example. Auroranorth (sign) 13:47, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
I am sorry but I did not understand any of the instructions about adding tags to the article. I just created Cat skin disorders and also several skin diseases of cats stubs linked from there. I would like to have peer review from wikiproject cats. Thanks for being patient. I have not participated in a wikiproject before and did not initiate the skin diseases of cats work from within this project. Caroldermoid (talk • contribs) 21:15, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
