WikiProject Calvinism
The general scope is the same as that of the Calvinism category. In particular, some major opponents are included in the scope of WikiProject Calvinism. Some members of WikiProject Calvinism believe that this includes people such as James I of England. The tagging of an article means "this article needs attention from someone in WikiProject Calvinism".
Calvinists should only be included if:
- They're theologians, philosophers, or some other important Christian worker (eg. Bible translator, evangelist, whatever)
- They're politicians (kings, lords, whatever) that had an influence on the ability of Calvinism to spread (ie. took in Calvinist refugees, were of help to Calvinism materially, and the like)
- Possibly someday we'll start including Calvinist ministers (and feel free to include some if you're sure that you are going to work on them), but we started doing that, and it was too huge for us
- Add our new Calvinism-stub template to the articles in Category:Stub-Class Calvinism articles
- When doing this, remove any generic Christianity stub templates (unless there's a clear non-Calvinist interest); they want to reduce the size of their stub category (see Category:Christianity stubs). OTOH, if it's a specific template (eg. Christian biography or Christian clergy, then leave it)
- Look for things to do mentioned on the /News page
- Go to work in one of our departments; Assessment could use some help at the moment.
- Assessment Department - These editors work to assess and categorize articles within the scope of the Calvinism project.
- Collaboration Department - Here we seek to identify articles that would benefit from a significant collaborative effort.
- Translation Department - These editors serve to enhance Wikipedia's Calvinism content by translating material from or to non-English articles and sources for use within the project. To coordinate this, it includes a staff of volunteer translators for various languages.
- Outreach Department - These editors work to recruit and welcome new editors to the project.

Creating a denomination article
10 step guide to creating at least a B-Class denomination article
Type a title:
and click "Create page" |
|
- Create a new page.
- Create an outline for the denomination article you started:
- Write as the content of the page, and save it. The "denomination" tag shouldn't have any Wiki markup in it, but the "location" tag can (ie. "North America and Japan)
- If the article already exists (presumably as a Stub or Start class article), put the tag specified above at the head of the article to give you your outline
- Type in some content for your article. It's generally better to edit one section at a time, as this reduces the chance of edit conflicts (ie. two people making different changes at the same time)
- Populate your article with images such as obtained from Wikimedia Commons, image list, or by posting a request for an image from other Wikipedians, or by getting your own from public domain or, if necessary, fair use sources
- Add the appropriate categories
- Since categories at the bottom of the other Wikipedia articles linked in your article may be appropriate to place in your article, go through each link in your article and review the categories at the bottom of the linked article for inclusion in your article
- Confirm that the internal links, footnotes, and external (non-wiki) links in your article go where you want them to go.
- For each broken (red) link in your article:
- Post an article request at Wikipedia:WikiProject Calvinism/Requested articles (if appropriate) or Wikipedia:Requested articles
- OR remove the double brackets around the broken link (these are your only choices)
- Publicize your article by ...
- Nominate your article to be featured; see "Collaborations" section below for details, but ONLY after you believe that you completed all the above steps.
- Relax! and take a break if you reached this point. But not too much. We are Calvinists, you know :-)
Naming conventions
- For people: John Calvin, unless others by that name exist, in which case the activity for which the individual is best known should be bracketed, e.g., John Calvin (reformer) (not John Calvin (scholar), John Calivn (theologian), etc.)
- For clergy: (minister), (deacon), (priest), (bishop)
- For scholars: (theologian), (philosopher)
- Other possibilities: (author), (martyr), (missionary), (religious)
- For other subjects: The simpler the title the better, with redirects or disambiguation pages, as necessary.
