This is a WikiProject, a collaboration area and open group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of a particular topic, or to organizing some internal Wikipedia process.

The California Star is awarded for excellence in editing California related articles. It is also the WikiProject Award for California, WP San Francisco Bay Area, WP Southern California, WP Santa Barbara County, WP California State Highways and WP California County Routes.

This award was suggested by Ronbo76; it was designed by thuglas. It was introduced on March 6, 2007.

WikiProject California uses Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in California to monitor all California articles that may benefit from additional images. In addition, Wikipedian photographers living in California use the subcategories at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in California to locate those subjects near where they typically take photographs. The "imageneeded=" and "in=" parameters of {{WikiProject California}} populate this category.

  • To request an image for an article, use the "imageneeded=yes" parameter in the {{WikiProject California}} article talk page template. Please use the "in=" parameter in the {{WikiProject California}} template to specify the California county where the photograph may be taken. Up to three locations may be specified, such as {{WikiProject California|class=Start|importance=Low|imageneeded=yes|in=Los Angeles County, California|in2=Orange County, California|in3=Sacramento County, California|nested=yes|unref=yes}}
  • If you need to specify four or more locations (such as a road passing through eight California counties), use {{reqphoto}} and its multiple "in=" parameters.
