Team news
- March 8, 2008 - Optioned pitchers Edgar Martinez and David Pauley to the Pawtucket Red Sox and pitcher Kyle Jackson and infielder Argenis Diaz to the Portland Sea Dogs; assigned pitchers Michael Bowden, Hunter Jones and Justin Masterson and infielders Jeff Bailey, Tony Granadillo and Gil Velazquez to minor league camp.
- March 13, 2008 - The Red Sox release catcher Doug Mirabelli, place pitcher Curt Schilling on the 60-day disabled list and place pitcher Lincoln Holdzkom on the 40-man roster. The Red Sox re-assign Devern Hansack and Jonathan Van Every to the Pawtucket Red Sox. Michael Tejera, Jon Switzer and Lee Gronkiewicz were re-assigned to the minor league camp.
- Josh Beckett is injured and may not be able to play for the begginning of the season.
- March 24 and March 25, 2008 - Regular Season Game at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. Red Sox vs Athletics
